Our first flight just left!

In Ops. here in SAT, and our first ExpressJet flight #18 has just departed bound for ONT. All of the employees and crew here in SAT were very excited and anxious for this moment and it was a great feeling to see that plane lift off of runway 12R!
:yar:

There was an ExpressJet (new colors) sitting at the executive area last week here in LAS. Is LAS getting service?

That one was a charter... they are using the same paint scheme as the ones for ExpressJet Airlines.

Is that one of the fillers they scheduled for the 44 planes that have nothing to do?
You're not serious are you? We are actually have flying for all the aircraft... see www.xjet.com ;) If you want to see what we are doing with them... click here: http://expressjet.com/expressjet/fleet.htm

Rumor is 26 more XR's coming from our options with EMB within a year to round out our fleet to 300. We'll see about that... it is a fun rumor in the meantime. ;)

Nothing new gets into LAS without someone posting it up on anet :). Here is the one I saw. http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1191247/M/

 Thank you for your informative reponse! Could you do me a favor and not bring negativity to this thread. There is a lot of good folks here in SAT and throughout the XJET system that have worked extremely hard for this day!

Reality is not negativity. It has been widely reported that the loss of some flying has left Xjet with 44 airplanes that are under, if not, unutilized.

Hence, the introduction of "new flying" like GEG-SAC, GEG-ONT, etc. No one says you're not working hard, its just readily apparent that Xjet management is scrambling to find SOMETHING/ANYTHING to do with excess capacity.

If they don't discover it soon, furloughs are the inevitable next step.

Good luck!

Congrats guys!! XJet is going to be my #1 choice in about a year :)

Question: What's the easiest way to find flights out of Louisville? I tried picking a few days on xjet.com but it always said non available.

Maybe it is me, but that sounds like a very ignorant and a little bit over the top on the sarcasm side of things.

I suggest you read this website every week:

Scroll down to the entry for 2/5/07 for the complete article. Here's a couple of the important points:

Hot Flash - February 5, 2007
Regional Jet Glut Accelerates. Airports: Get Prepared
Excess Jets Results in ExpressJet

Today, there are two things you don't really want to get stuck with, 'cause they're stuff nobody else wants. One is a litter of stray kittens.
The other is a fleet of excess regional jets.

Then last year, we witnessed Continental shifting flying for 69 Continental Express RJs to a cheaper vendor, leaving ExpressJet with a litter of ERJs, all dressed up and nowhere to fly, replete with hefty monthly lease payments. Do the numbers - 69 ERJs, and even if they have very favorable lease rates, say, $100,000 per month, it's easy to see that ExpressJet is looking down the barrel of a nearly $7 million gun each and every month. A potentially lethal gun.

The challenge for ExpressJet is daunting: they're shelling out millions a month for five dozen (plus) ERJs in an airline environment where virtually every potential major airline system already has its RJ dance card full. The only option open to ExpressJet: try to find - or create - some alternative economic use for those airplanes. So, they're putting some into charter service, and using the rest to start their own scheduled airline as an independent brand. In this case, ExpressJet is creating an all-RJ airline, flying between "underserved" intra-regional markets on a nonstop basis.
The concept of hub-bypass service on a substantial scale, particularly with jet aircraft, has some merits, at least on paper.

On paper, there's enough traffic to possibly fill a couple of nonstop 50-seaters a day between say, Colorado Springs and San Diego, or Sacramento and Tucson. On paper, it's likely that some portion of the flying public would like to go between Raleigh-Durham and Kansas City nonstop, instead of having to connect at CVG, ATL, or ORD. On paper, there is some portion of the flying public that would be willing to pay reasonable fares for such service. And in at least one instance - New Orleans - the concept of adding O&D service, whether on paper or not, would almost certainly be a slam-dunk, based on the underserved nature of post-Katrina MSY.

Tossing nonstops between two cities may or may not be able to break through existing brand loyalty and change consumer preferences. It may or may not, depending on each specific market, result in traffic stimulation based on convenience. Or, it might not do diddly to capture or stimulate additional traffic. Until the schedule is set and the service starts, it's a jump ball.

Historical precedent is not encouraging, however. Nonstop or not, RJs are not exactly airplanes the consumer hankers for any more, particularly on longer hauls....The objective of XJet is to create a productive home for 44 jets nobody else wants, as opposed to filling a demonstrable and clearly consumer-supported market need.

Boyd's analysis is, IMHO, the best read on the airline business. He called the demise of FlyI a year before it happened. And Xjet appears to be going down the FlyI road. Those that will not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Where has that been reported? If you've kept up with the industry news... then you know that XJT had a very real understanding that they would be loosing the CAL flying far in advance. To date... there really are no aircraft that are under/un-utilized. The Charter concept has taken off like gangbusters... and we have planes in the paint shop now getting both the XJT and the "NEW" Delta paint scheme on them for our new ventures. Incidently... the rumor is that XJT will be the first to show off the new Delta livery...

Hence, the introduction of "new flying" like GEG-SAC, GEG-ONT, etc. No one says you're not working hard, its just readily apparent that Xjet management is scrambling to find SOMETHING/ANYTHING to do with excess capacity.
Something that has been in the planning stages for over a year... with infrastructure set-up... gate, ticket, and ramp operations set up to 24 different destinations across the US... is hardly "scrambling". Your statements thus far are indicitive of knowledge based on "partial" information that has been twisted slightly to mean what you think you want it to mean... ;)

If they don't discover it soon, furloughs are the inevitable next step.
What part of starting a new concept airline that offers "full" service and amenities direct to 24 destination across the US, gaining a new contract with Delta, and starting up a very successful corporate charter program, while still providing excellent service with over 204 other aircraft to CAL... is telling you that they haven't "discovered" it yet? ;)

I'd like you to visit one of the outstations or bases... talk to the folks who work there... or talk to the ones on JC who work there... get an understanding of the planning, preparation, and training that went into this concept... and see if you can come back on here and say that it was all just "slapped together" last minute as a last ditch effort...

Good luck!
Thank you! :)

[defense mechanism: OFF] ;)
