Oh JetBlue XII - pins gone wild

I heard JBU issued a memo regarding the wearing of political flair. Anyone know anything about it or what it states? Hopefully this makes it simple for all sides. 🤷‍♂️

Especially with multiple siblings. I could never hit one if all they used were words, and didn’t actually hit me first.

Well to be fair, they all became doctors and you are just a stick/control column wiggler :)

Also, this is the daily hell we live in today, with both of our dumba***ses in a constant state of either best friend life, or trying to murder each other and not even hearing our cries for peace

“How do you do, I don’t think that we’ve met…..my name is Ian….”

I still think they are one of the top 5 all time, even if what you say is true about the “movement”. Saw the same thing you describe in my much smaller university hometown during the first revival of punk rock in the mid-1990s.

Was first names with Ian, along with 1000 others.

I love all his incarnations. I’m a super fan. He was brilliant and wasn’t going to be handcuffed by his fans or any movement.

It’s kinda funny, in the eighties punk scene, swastikas weren’t that offensive, just another symbol to piss off old folks. This changed when the white power scene started to take hold.

I was in the trad skin head scene, embracing the British multi-cultural tradition. I saw some pretty sad kids (autistic, developmentally disabled, mental health issues) find comfort in the white power scene. So, there’s a bit of a backstory to my rejection to punch-a-Nazi mindset.

I need to watch Salad Days in slow-mo, I was at some of those shows and NoVa community center parties.

Beyond that, I believe we are a country of laws and assaulting folks based on their clothing and accessory choices is wrong and antithetical to my beliefs.

May I suggest a ground-breaking compromise? If you think there's a possibility, however slim, that your self-expression at work (whatever the expression may be) via Flair may cause other people to be un-thrilled with you, just don't do it. It's easy! It's actually even easier than HAVING the flair. No one wants to hear *or* see your political opinions at work. We have JC for that.

Given how nutty pax are, I wouldn’t want to give them any fuel for nutty reactions. Among well adjusted folks, a BLM pin shouldn’t be a big deal. That said, have you ever flown to Fla on Allegiant? If I was an FA, I’d wear a disguise.

“If you feel that BLM and Palestine, the bare minimum, are good enough for you, then ok, but look at Jenny over there, she has 37 pieces of woke flair…”

It’s hard to imagine anyone wearing a swastika that wasn’t trying to make a very specific political or social message.

However, it was pretty common in punk circles in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s among folks that just wanted to appear rebellious or offensive. I was pretty well educated about the Nazis as a kid and never considered it but it was a thing in punk circles. It was a thing and it rarely got more than a raised eyebrow from other punks.

The rise of the white power Oi movement in the UK had a big influence on the punk scene in the U.S., the swastikas disappeared. When they returned a few years later, they were being worn by racist skinheads, especially Hammerskins.

Guess I should have mentioned that I’m against any flair worn on a uniform. If your company wears brass (wings/nametag/union pin/etc), then wear it as prescribed. Everything else should stay off a uniform since it will not be uniform on everyone’s uniform.

My personal views on any subject matter other than what I was hired to do should be irrelevant when in uniform.

But I’m a grumpy ole vet that walked to school up hill both ways in the snow. Now where’s my new balance shoes?!?!

No?

I have never commented on other jobs outside aviation, where I don’t know their specialty? Eg, I have not commented on what or how mental health specialists like him should do in his job.

Should I spend the 20 seconds with the search function to bring up the dozens of posts you’ve made about other jobs relating to working from home? Or is that different from “commenting on other jobs outside aviation”?

It was a play on Office Space, flair scene.

That’s a separate subject, pre pandemic VS post pandemic people’s desires and behaviors.

Ian’s are renowned for being awesome.

Lame deflection.

You preached about how you knew what the requirements are of jobs you have zero familiarity with.

No. I wrote about people’s lack of willingness to go back to what it was pre-Covid, and how many corporate buildings are not filling with tenants. A *vastly* different argument than some guy commenting on how one should or shouldn’t contribute to their union’s political wing.
