Oh Delta XXVIII

Some of y'all really do sound exactly like our broken media talking about ending the pandemic and DO THIS so we don't go backwards!! We've been hearing these tactics for almost 2 years now, and I can sympathize with what CC is saying. What in the world is your end game?

If normalizing masks in your life is the plan, fine. If yearly boosters is your plan, fine. Either way at what point will some of you accept 100% mask wearing and vaccinations is not realistic and will never happen. Eradication of covid was a fantasy we thought when it was "2 weeks to flatten the curve". The more and more you keep reciting these tactics we need to do to help out the world end the pandemic, with no results because the virus is just raging somewhere else in the world and will eventually end up back in the US, is just making this all worse imo.

Then instead of finding realistic and actual end games to the ENDEMIC we are in, it's immediately into bully tactics of how idiotic the right is, you're an anti-mask, anti-vax POS. The right will say you are anti-freedom test bunny of the government. Then covid cases rise again (shocker, PANIC EVERYONE) and it was almost impossible to prevent. But YET people will say "well this was avoidable if Alabama just wore a damn mask" when you know damn well it wasn't. Now we're saying wear your mask so you don't create the next deadly variant. Seriously what's the end game? That's not a logical course to set, and people on left can't understand why the distrust for people listening to CDC guidelines is accelerating. The goalposts have been moved so much, no one knows the correct course of action, but you damn well know people on the internet will pick either left or the right and say they know.

And what's even worse is people think this is just a problem in America, completely ignore what's going on around the world with people facing these same dilemmas of protesting these non-stop measures that are not working at what's inevitable.... the virus is never going away.

I think the endgame is some people just keep"fighting" and the rest, the majority is my guess, move on.

The virus isnt a showstopper for me, especially not when i have the vax and i got covid post vax (god's booster i joke). For others, life will truly never be the same for a host of reasons. Get the vax, do what makes sense, reject tribalism.

Some people willl have the vax, get covid, and realize the vax works and theyve been acting silly, others will double down. During covid i lived in 3 states, 2 out of 3 seemed to have moved on. I think thats a positive sign and a reason to hope. This place has been lagging for a while, take their histrionics with a grain of salt.

I think this place is extremely heavy on the left wing virtue signaling because it’s the only place in all of aviation that leans left. So people come here and flex their progressive muscles to show everyone else here that they aren’t like the red neck troglodytes they fly with all the time.

Well, to be FAAAAIIIIIRRRRRRR, I think there is more of a spectrum of people here than most would admit. There are a few "you're either 100% with us, or you're against us, and must burn in the fiery pits of Robot Hell", but for the most part, people are pretty tolerant. Even @Cherokee_Cruiser is a fairly tepid flag bearer for that side of things, all things considered.

Agreed, but overall, this place has a left wing slant, which is the exact opposite of everywhere else in aviation.

No argument, but I posit there are more than a few centrists, libertarians and those of mixed ideologies. Granted, other online venues are a desert, and that would make any raggedy cluster of scrub look like a lush, verdant paradise.
 
I remember when the threads here wouldn’t somehow devolve into a right or left argument almost every single time. It used to be a lot more fun. There are still bright spots here occasionally where people can put their politics aside and have an entertaining discussion but they’re few and far between. I’m guilty of it as well. This place is just another reflection of our society.
