official "waiting for FOL from NYC PEPC" thread

Question for all you that have been a part of this game a bit longer than I.

How did you find out about your TOL or facility that you were selected for.... I am aware that a Panel meets in a week or so for the Pub2's... Did you check asap? Do they email you? mail?

:panic: How long after you made the referral list did it take?

if you're going to a center, then the particular facility is listed, otherwise you get a "further consideration for terminal in California" message

let's see. for me the referral list was "generated" 5/28/08 and i got my "employment inquiry" e-mail 6/19/08. so what? three weeks or so i guess

So...your list was generated when? Like a week or so after geoprefs were due? Did the list say for what states?

Thanks guys...

About 2-3 weeks after referral list is generated you should get an email that you were selected. If you're enroute the email will show your facility. If you're Tower it will just give you the state, then you will find out your exact location at your PEPC (that timing varies).

my geo prefs. deadline was 5/23/08 and i got my employment inquiry e-mail 6/19/08. the e-mail pretty much just said that cleveland center was interested in me and a couple replies later i had my PEPC date.

i'm guessin that you're terminal since you went the 9th to the NYC PEPC. us enroute people will be waiting a bit longer i hear.

I received a call at 6:45 PM ET on Tuesday evening (from someone who isn't my POC) asking if I wanted to go to the Academy on Sept 8 (in 5 days). He said all my stuff has cleared so he was calling to see if I could get to OKC on such short notice. I have to give at least 2 weeks notice at my job & train someone so I said I couldn't do it. He said he didn't have permission to put me in any other classes but to plan on a Nov. class date and he or my POC would call me when they receive permission to put me another class.

I'm waiting from NY PEPC too... was told October at the earliest. Just curious, anyone else going to Seattle Enroute?

Hey there, I did MEM PEPC but I am heading to Seattle Enroute too, still waiting to hear about class. Have you heard anything yet?

My references finally started to receive their letters today!!!

Except, in the letter there is a section that states: 'Position applied for'. In that spot it says, Personnel Security Specialist...weird.

Hi guys-

Time for me to ask the proverbial repetitive questions that all of us who are new to the controller hiring process wonder about. ;) I'm sorry if you guys are tired of hearing this. Rest assured, I have given a solid attempt at reading the postings of this forum and answering as many questions I could, but at the end of the day it's still nice to cut the crap and just ask someone.

Here's my situation...

I'm currently a CTI student. I just started the program and am scheduled to graduate next August (of 2009). I am a well established pilot. I've got over 8 and 1/2 years of flying experience and hold the following certificates and ratings: Commercial Pilot with Instrument Rating, CFII, AGI/IGI. I'm also a FAASTeam Representative (FAA Safety Team, see faasafety.gov if you're curious what the heck that is). I also exceed the work experience/education experience (combination of) requirements. I definitely qualify as an "off the street" applicant. I made the decision to get involved with a CTI program before I realized the FAA was taking most of their new hires "off the street." Here's my question... Do you guys think I should stay in the CTI program and graduate? Or should I leave the program and begin the hiring process now? I'd strongly prefer to NOT spend all the money for the CTI program (tuition and living expenses since the school I'm at is not in my home state), not to mention the added year before I'm possibly hired. From all the research I've been doing it's really looking like the better thing for me to do is get out of the CTI program and get a job now. Why spend all the time and money getting the CTI degree if I don't have to? I know it wouldn't hurt my chances, of course. But if I can get a job now I'd much prefer it. Does anyone have any light to shed on this?

I've actually already submitted my application using ASAP. My announcement closed 8/29. I haven't heard anything back yet. Other questions (please, I know how stupid they are): What do these mean... TOL, FOL, PUBNAT, PEPC, OTS???? Sorry for the dumb question. ;)

Thanks a lot, guys.
