Off-topic career beefs from CC from the UAL Aviate thread

You sounded like an angry crazy ex- with this rant.

Can you show me again on the doll where United hurt you?

I did not write that. You misquoted me and put your own words inside my quotes.

And it’s United now? I thought it was Delta? I can’t keep up anymore. And I would absolutely take the words of someone who went through that program and wrote about their experience versus a cheerleader for the program whose job it is to recruit and being in more blood.

Honestly Aviate isn’t that great and those who have experienced the ever changing goal posts have a valid point.

That said, it’s like any other flow or flow-like program. Great as a back up but you should probably aim for a different major seeing as you probably wont get hired off the street at the parent. If you’re dream airline is United maybe go with Envoy or Endeavor.

You can’t have these kinds of level headed thoughts. Only battleship grays, tulips, and unicorns allowed.

You honestly think someone on the hiring team at United needs to “recruit” anyone? They can pick and chose whoever they want from the stack of thousands of resumes they have.

That’s one way to go, keeping in mind, he’s gonna be a cheerleader for the program being that he’s the insider.

You have a job, are offering zero solutions, what is your interest in the topic?

Do you:

Work as a recruiter?
Work in Pilot Selection?
Provide career guidance/mentor?
An applicant?
Attempting to help?

Or:

Love taking the opportunity bellyache at those seeking career advancement and professional development?

Serious questions, no I’m not picking on you.

I mean as an Aviate sell job.
If you think I lose one ounce of sleep caring if the Aviate program or our regionals are staffed, man do I have a bridge to sell you.

What I do care about is giving people an accurate information so they can make an informed decision on their career.

I’m not an Aviate Mentor for United because I’m a company cheerleader. I truly enjoy helping the next generation of Pilot with their career. I’ve also specific told them, if an opportunity arises that would cause them to leave the program, we will discuss it without bias. I’m sure United wouldn’t love to hear that, but I’m here to help this kids make the best decision for their career. I hope it’s with United, but if it’s not, I wish them the best of luck and I still will be there for them as a mentor even if it’s not through the program.

I’m part of the recruiting team because I want to help influence what the future of my airline looks like. I had an amazing experience at my interview and wanted others to experience the same.

I’m also involved with ALPA grievance and just argued a case to the VP, but yes, again, company cheerleader.

I have no ulterior motive like you. I’m not trying to recruit people to United if they don’t want to be here. We have plenty of people that do. You weren’t picked to dance, and now need to convince everyone that you’re super happy where you’re at, and wouldn’t go to Delta/United if your life depending on it. We get it. I got the thanks but no thanks from UPS but I’m not on every thread of theirs trying to convince people not to go there because they didn’t want to dance with me.

I challenge you to try and contribute to this website in a positive way. Use your expertise to help instead of troll.

I would love to see it.

On that note, I got the TBNT from AA back in 1997 — I couldn’t imagine spending the last 28 years stalking-out American Airlines posts on forums to impart my grievances.

In fact, I work fairly closely with their Pilot Recruiting team from time to time and none of them even know I was once a candidate, nor is it germane to anything in 2025 whatsoever.

It could easily swing back the other way too. If Boeing and Airbus get their act together and deliver airplanes, it will drive times back down again. Maybe to not a “couple month in a RJ before coming over” levels but something more reasonable.

If that happens, Aviate might not be the best deal to get into a United Flight Deck but as of right now, it is.
Sigh, I hope not.

There’s a difference between getting a TBNT after an interview versus never hearing anything in the first place (eg, never invited or heard anything). Luckily, I’ve gotten every job I’ve ever interviewed for.

Voila. Share with us on the doll where Aviate hurt you while I enjoy this delicious bowl of miso ramen in Shinjuku:

My Kanji is horrible. My Hiragana and Katakana are way better. Consonant/vowel pairings are super easy for my romance-language brain but things like Kanji that rely on a lot of memorization floors me.

What does that have to do with any of what was asked of you? Other than bitching for sport because you were never asked to the dance?

Seriously, you sound like a member of Meal Team 6 that never went to boot camp, let alone BUD/S or SERE.

I'm not on that thread but I tell new pilots what I think they should do all the time.

Most of the time it sounds like "here's what I did. Do the opposite of that and you should be fine."

But seriously, they're coming to websites like this for guidance on how to shepherd their career to green pastures. It would be irresponsible to not give them the benefit of our missteps.

If there had been a program like Aviate when I was starting out in this business that created a cradle to grave career path, I would've begged, borrow, and stolen money from my parents and anyone else who was willing to help to get into that program.

My opinion after 30 years of flying airplanes with different paint jobs over the United States of Mexanada.
