Nothing Like Meeting Fellow JC'ers!!!

Re: Very Grateful!

Kristie and I might be in Japan in early June, but not sure yet. Still working out vacation plans. I think "Lost In Translation" has her a little freaked out!

Re: Very Grateful!

Awesome, if you do end up out there and if you have some time we should meet up. Possibly even go flying out of the aero club out ont he AFB my parents live on, though that's kinda out of the way and I'm sure you get enough flying in :-P Tokyo is an amazing city. If you're interested in reading anything about it the website www.worldisround.com has a few good articles (one written by myself) and lots of picturs. I'll be out there from the end of may until the beginning of August.

Re: Very Grateful!

We might be Eurorailing around western Europe beause I've got two weeks. But we're really not quite sure what we want to do yet.

But if we make it to Japan, we're going to need all the help we can get!

Re: Very Grateful!

Euraling is pretty cool as well. I used to live in Germany around the Munich area, so if you need pointers on where to go let me know...

Re: Very Grateful!

In fact, yes. Where's a good place to find 'old Germany' today? Plus, if we wanted to see the old division of east D. versus west D., where would be a good accessible city to go?

Re: Very Grateful!

Munich is one of my favorite cities in the world, and it has a lot of 'old Germany', as well as a lot of new stuff too. They have the glockenspiel in the Marienplatz, as well as a huge food market neer by. Lots of old historical buildings with a lot of really neat history about them if you find places to read about them beforehand. We used to go into Munich a lot on field trips for German class. Basically my teacher would act as a tourguide and whoe us around all the old buildings and such. There's also new stuff such as the BMW museum *drool* and walking around olympic park and going up the tower. Though the olympic park isn't all that new, it still has a lot of historical value. That was where the Israeli athletes were kidnapped and later killed during the olympics. Also it is where the US basketball team got screwed by the refs and lost to the USSR. I've actually played a few hockey games in that exact arena. There's also a lot of daytrips that are accessable by train from Munich that are a lot of fun. As for East/West, the first thing that comes to mind is Berlin. Though I never made it up there, obviously that is where the Berlin wall was. If you're in the area I also reccomend checking out Austria, one of the most beautiful countries in the world in my opinion. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Man, you're making me wish I was still there ;-)

If you make it to Austria and come to Vienna I would be more than happy to show you around in my hometown. Everybody who has been to Vienna always wants to come back as soon as possible....

Hey, Doug, he was very cool about it. Awesome guy. Fired up the APU and all the avionics and patiently answered every silly question that this extremely low time CFI could spout out.

Did the same for me and I'm STILL on a high from it!!

Re: Nothing Like Meeting Fellow JC\'ers!!!

I'll have better chance of meeting fellow JCers soon. The 117 has an "airshow detachment" during show season since it's such a requested aircraft at airshows. Since there's so many airshows the 117 attends, there's not 1 or 2 dedicated airshow pilots, it's open to many pilots. Not everyone likes doing airshows, so the new guys get the duty a lot.

Lloyd, how 'bout a beer and arm wrestling match. If I win, you have to wear an "I love the USAF" t-shirt for a day at Parris Island.
