Non-sequitur from “UA 787 Emergency”

It’s true though. Especially after 9/11. Do you know how much pressure the airlines were under NOT to hire people from the Middle East (and even though you’re South Asian, Joe Doublewide is going to think you’re from the Middle East) because after hiring resumed?

Tremendous.

And there was backlash and pressure NOT to. One of our users here faced extreme backlash at a regional and then later at a ULCC because he was Afghani from both the flying public and from people at their employers.

There were efforts to make sure people got a fair shot and stood against the bumper sticker logic of “they attacked us in airplanes!”

But of course, you either forgot that. Please, go into a Trump rally and say you’re a Pakistani Muslim that wants to be an airline pilot and watch MAGA’s reaction. Many of us are trying to protect you, and other marginalized people, from that mentality. The America you think you live in may not be the one you… uhh… live in.
He cares how the stock market treats his 401k.

As I understand it yesterday was not a good day.

Thanks, Trump!
Who'd have thought that putting a bunch of people in a state where they're unsure if they'll have jobs, And threatening to tax imports from a country we're dependent on "somewhere between" 25 and 100 percent was a bad idea.

So I agree with your criteria, but how does a line pilot get recognized as being a "good instructor"?
A few minutes of unfiltered, off the record conversation with the FO’s they’ve flown with over the past year would be a great start. Actually watching them teach in the classroom and the simulator would be another, and much more practical to implement. Oh, and if you never flew the line at Alaska or even never flew for an airline at all, you shouldn’t be teaching in PTs where people build all their primacy.

I filtered myself pretty heavily because I was in training/on probation at the time, but when I went through our new hire training flat out sucked.

💯 this. This is what needs to happen. Bravo.

I get that. My father told me I was delusional and that no one would hire me.

I don’t care what ignorant people - on the left and right - think of me. I’ve adopted a “I’m on my own” mentality a long time ago. And especially since the pandemic.

Now who do you think was over the fence making sure you got a fair shake?

Do you think it was more “Ayn Rand” or a person in HR saying “No, we’re not going to give in to the bigots, we’re going to make sure he gets a fair shot”?

I already know the answer, the question is rhetorical. Quiet stop pulling up the rope out of reach of other people like you and I that are trying to seek employment and allying with the people that don’t want us where we are.

They’re amongst us at every company. I keep receipts and will name names.

Didn't you hear him? He pulled himself up by his bootstraps And did it himself. Case closed, nothing more to it.

Absolutely no one in aviation is their own nation.

Not that you need a letter of recommendation to get hired somewhere, I’ve never seen an app “at certain levels” without one.

Thus, no bootstraps. :)
