No furloughs at Pinnacle?

The 450 to 350 number is smoke and mirrors.

They still need to furlough 450, but 100 of the people they were going to furlough already quit.

The letter actually states "due to attrition" so not really smoke in mirrors, just an update for what is expected.

I agree quitting is attrition, people leaving for whatever reason is attrition. I just think the company is trying to put out that people are leaving at a higher rate than was originally expected. Their motives can be debated for the memo, probably just trying to stop the hemorrhaging.....

I wondered the same thing myself...make a few people think twice about leaving to help cover the summer flying...then come Fall, Voila! No job!

There are/were plenty of ways to stop the hemorrhaging. Sadly, most of them are on the term sheet.

Depending on if managment and ALPA can come to an agreement or what a judge determines is best for the company, I think the bleeding is minor compared to what it will be.

What do you mean by the bleeding is minor compared to what it will be? Are you talking senior/semi senior guys bailing?

From what I have been told, there have been around 100 pilots leave since the bankrupcy filing. ~100 pilots over 2 months will pale in comparison to the exodus that is probably still to happen after consessions become final. Especially if they give up anything where health benefits are concerned.

Lots of guys I've talked to are almost in a holding pattern and seeing what is actually agreed upon before pulling the cord.

Honestly, I think the smart ones are the ones that have already walked out the door.

Is it true that they sent out a memo saying no furloughs until at least November now?

They are cancelling most of the involuntary furloughs and going ahead and furloughing the 7 most junior pilots.

They also updated the number of potential furloughs to 350 from 450 and said they probably wouldn't need to furlough again until the fall.

Those 7 FOs must really be killing the company. Shows you just how much compasion management has for us as employees.

Those damn first year FOs make too much money! I bet they're costing the company at least $15,000/mo.

But they're offering 200% in some places because they're short staffed

$15K/mo is a pretty big expense. You guys are making bank.....$180k!
HAHA, yeah 15k a piece. It's a great contract!

That reminds me of the movie Richie Rich, "I bet you ten that you can't hit it over the fence." - "Ok, it's a little steep but ten thousand it is." - "No! ten dollars!"

If enough people have moved on, that they don't need to place pilots on the street against their will, then that is awesome!

How in the hell is it cost effective to furlough 7 people?

I think you are right but I'm not sure very many people would stay even if they reduce the number of furloughs given what Delta's likely plan is for this place and what the bloch award means for them.

I would not be surprised if they were hiring again a year from now. Hire til you furlough, furlough til you hire...
