NKS TA released

I am sure that is what some do but there's quite a few of us who do it work around our spouse schedules or to go to kids baseball games.

Got it. Completely understand.

However, do you think the company really wants a bunch of folks on reserve dropping their days? I mean your job as a pilot is to cover the operation, reserve or line holder. When I was at Spirit I was consistently getting 18 days off as a Reserve guy. I knew that couldn't last.

Pay comes and goes and comes back again. Given up and lost work rules are never recovered. Keep that in mind when you make your decision.

The Spirit work rules are good...however getting 18 days off as a Reserve the company was going to want to change that to bring the pay rates up, get LTD, DC Plan, etc.

They didn't take the rules away and throw it all in pay. They took it and secured benefits where they were gravely behind.

18 days off? how is that possible? I get at best 12 (well more if I drop days) I get used for ridiculous trips like deadheading somewhere sitting there for 7+ hours and flying back. It's not as if they are paying me for the days I'm dropping that's a direct hit to me. I would be happier to get a higher pay rate in exchange for doing away with my QOL but this TA doesn't do that.

Transition conflict.

How in the world do you get 12 at best? That's the minimum and I have personally never been close to that. As a 1.5 year FO I average no less than 15 off per month but usually 16-18. Maybe it's just your base? (LAS here) that said this TA is junk. I would much rather make 80k as a FO and be able to control my life than make 110k with no control. We will just have to live with what the majority decides I guess.

Honestly, if I was there, I’d probably vote no. I was always a QOL over pay guy, and you have some of the best QOL in the industry. But with the way the NMB is going to look at it, and with Trump in office, it’s worth noting that there’s a good chance you’re locking yourself in with current book for another 3+ years if you vote it down.

Yeah but it’s a current book with no LTD and no DC plan.

How would you feel if you voted no because of these QOL issues, it gets voted down and then have a medical issue that results in a lengthy absence without LTD...

Yeah this is a real crappy position to be in. Vote yes and hang your head in shame or vote no and wait who knows how long for another offer with unknown improvements. I really think the NC should have never put this TA out for a vote in the first place. Management wins either way :(

We actually went out and bought a separate ltd policy through Harvey watt so honestly I’d much rather wait then give up my qol

Ok, here is the thing about QOL pertaining to Spirit. Remember, I used to work there so understand how that system works vs. a PBS system. Compared to Spirit's current contract to what I work under now a PBS system, I HIGHLY prefer PBS.

PBS allows me to bid weekends off and bid to get the days off I need off during the week. Under the Spirit line system it was hard to get all the days off I needed and wanted and then hope I could drop the days. Why that occasionally happens now, it happens much less often as PBS offers more options under the solution to get those days off.

The way the NMB is looking at this, every airline out there of Spirit's size has PBS so with the pay raises, LTD, DC the company offered, the NMB wasn't going to entertain the Pilot's wish if they didn't want PBS.

Finally, I read the PBS LOA. It is exceptionally written as it is favorable to the pilots and protects them. So I am not sure if this really is a hit on QOL as some are saying on here and airlinepilotcentral.

I prefer PBS over Line bidding, but the thing to keep in mind is it’s the rules that make or break a particular airline’s PBS. Case in point, here, the union has final say over all runs, and QCs the results. If, in their opinion, that the QOL is taking a hit, the company must rerun with different parameters.

I’m sure it’s the same where you are. I think the pushback is from the horror stories about PBS that come from regionals who just do “one run and done,” with no control or input from the pilots. Sounds like the Spirit pilots at least have some control.

Doesn’t Frontier line bid still? I know Alaska virgin does so we are not the only ones. Yes I know swa does too but they are much larger then us

Alaska/Virgin also have zero scope.

Frontier line bids but will they keep it?

What are the details of your private LTD plan?

Alaska line bids but VX still has PBS, which will be going adios by the end of the year. BIG step backward because the Alaskas dont have any of the trip touching pay protection benefits.

It starts 5 years after you go out on medical and covers you up to age 65 it’s through Harvey watt
