I was once a mod at APC. Co-owner was a UPS pilot. They sold out to internet brands which owns a bunch of forums like flyer talk. Went downhill from there and any attempt to promote civility was useless. Then it got worse....

Part of the life cycle of anything on the intrawebz I guess. Several forums have gone down the same path.

Once someone moves in that's in it for the business rather than the cause, the suck soon follows.

To be fair, that goes for practically anything.
