NKS TA released

Nark

Macho Superpilot
It's released for membership review.

Ask your friends.

I'm not smart enough to link it.

Yeah I'm not thrilled about what I have read so far, but I don't get to vote on it either. It feels like we are giving up wayy too much.

I haven't read through it yet, and don't know if I will but my buddy there isn't a big fan. Hasn't decided how he'll vote but he's a little disappointed.

Guy on APC are complaining about 24/7 LC...umm...that's how it works fellas. And Spirit is even going to a 14 hour window, we have a 12.

This is pretty normal with new contract language. People don't really know what is standard and what isn't.

Without having seen any of the language, I really can't comment on it, but if even half of the complaints are similar to that Long Call one... well, you know.

In a perfect world, nothing would get released at all until the Road Shows so the NC could explain things as they are brought up, but of course pilots would never have the patience for that.

Are you in favor of what you have read so far?
So far.

It's appears, we haven't traded our collective soul for sub standard wages.

Like I said in the other thread, I have $80,000 to lose (this year) to try to get $10/15 more per hour, and about the same everywhere else.

This is "good enough for now." Not AMAZING!!!!!

Not my fight but what worries me with JB’s current negotiation is that we accept a marginally standard TA that leaves us dissatisfied in 2 years as other carriers leave us in the dust.

It’s a NO from me. I’ve been on reserve for a year and a half with not a lot of end in sight. For me to give up dropping reserve days would be a huge QOL issue. Besides the fact that the DOS pay is basically the same (and some years less) then JB. And pretty much all of the rescheduling is crap, I have to wait in the airport after I finish my day to make sure crew scheduling doesn’t want to reroute me....I’ll pass let me keep my crap pay and better QOL.

This. Section 25 (specifically reserve drop re-write and the 5 paragraphs of rescheduling they made up) was definitely a blindsided smack in the face. If the company was offering UA bus rates it would be a little easier to swallow the pill.

How so?

Also read the PBS LOA.

Section 25, especially with rescheduling is a scary section. Long stay hotels going to 18 hours takes away QOL on the road. No reserve drops after PBS is huge to someone junior like myself. There are many improvements. I came here for the great QOL on and off the road, I see these as cutting way back on that QOL.

Because I have a PC in a few days I haven't read much of it.

Only some of the highlights. I'll be at the road show day 2 in ORD.

The more I learn, the more I think it's a turd sandwich. Can I hold out another 9-12-18 months?

I will hold out however long it takes, with my wife’s job we need the flexibility of dropping days. Sure I would love to get paid more but it won’t do me any good if I end up having to downgrade so I can get a schedule that I can work around hers.

I'd love the money, especially after this disaster of being on first year pay. But coming to NK 10 months ago has been life changing for me, I made nearly 6 figures at my last job, and I left it for the quality of life. And right now I just don't see it in this. Reserve drops is a big one, I realize this is a big one for the company, I'd be fine with outside-In for R drops. And if you can't drop reserve days theoretically (this is just my opinion, not based on any actual math or science) they will always have the coverage they need, and the X/Y list will be fairly useless for guys that want premium trips. Oh and Red/Green board, I've noticed in ORD/FO the last few months the min buffer has crept up. It's now at 9 per a day, Last month is was 8, back in November it was 7, this past summer it was 6. Looking at this and last months bid packets there is less anticipated open flying this month, but the buffer went up? But maybe they just like to DH the ORD reserves as thats what I did the majority of the time I was on reserve.

If this thing passes I'll be sitting as an FO for a much longer time to avoid reserve as a capt. No dropping really makes it a punishment IMO Also on the flip side if this thing passes I'd be willing to bet the farm that we will see an aircraft order announcement 1-3 months after DOS which continues growth and will keep reserve times down but even that is a big unknown.

I still have a lot of reading to do, I only got through about 50 pages today, and full disclosure this is my first airline, I might be reading too much into things, I'm still learning as I go. But this thing doesnt look all that spectacular.

About reserve drops....to drop your entire schedule and then pick up trips at Junior Man pay is great, but do you think the company was going to let that go this round of negotiations?

I am sure that is what some do but there's quite a few of us who do it work around our spouse schedules or to go to kids baseball games.
