Next Up in the RLA Conga Line

Wouldn't it be easier to just get that 91 hour credit/15 days of work line to begin with though, and not have to gamble on dumping your entire schedule and taking what's out there to rebuild it?

Yeah. But arguably, I couldn’t hold those trips from the get go in a PBS world. It’s the good stuff that gets dropped due to vacation and training etc. with line bidding.

First step and second is pure seniority. AND it’s not live. I hardly get much there.

But third step is a literal free for all, first come first serve, live. I’m constantly hitting refresh with filters for 1 and 2 day trips.

Fly LA-PVR-SF and DH back to LA is a 8:30 credit day trip. Cha Ching. Oh look someone else JUST dropped one. Cha Ching.

PBS? The guys who truly wanted those trips on those particular dates would have gotten and it - and probably kept it.

Not gonna lie, line bidding forces a seniority skew.

NO! Then it’s even worse!

Estimating 195 lines with 293 total LAX Boeing CAs. Now you’re talking about ~90-100 leftover pilots and maybe 15-20 OF lines. 70-80 rsvs going forward. Every single day will be green.

LAX Boeing CA is, and will be, overstaffed for a while to come. I’m early 2012 hire and I will be back on reserve (involuntarily). Whereas in all the other bases, I’d be at 51-65% and solidly a lineholder.

LA, I’ll be 77%.

Can’t complain, I know what I signed up for (though to be fair, the airline I signed up for doesn’t exist now).

Doesn't that mean you could sit reserve and not work a whole lot?

I look forward to PBS, at least what little I know of it. I won't get some amazing schedule. But one man's garbage can be another man's treasure. I'm not picky. I'll do transcons, I'll do HI with redeyes. I just want trips that start at 1000 or later, and are in the 15-20 credit hour range. Also, if I could throw in a filter to get as many PAE trips as possible, regardless of type/hour/etc, that would be a nice to have. My wish list is very short, and I don't think at odds with my low seniority.

It starts again for Alaska in 2025....

I wonder how far along we’ll be with implementation of the current contract by then.

Came across this today:

What’s going on over there? Last I heard you guys were pretty quick to match Delta and United and some other changes which I thought would have made pilots happy. But I don’t know enough about it all

Company was quick to offer monetary increases. Then the APA BOD got involved, let go one member of the Negotiating Committee, and started adding items they wanted.

Now we’ve delayed the Ratification Vote as there is no process to pull the TA. Still trying to figure out how they had a motion to amend a motion though…

Yes but no. They threw some money at us that pretty closely matched UA and DAL but in classic AA manner obfuscated it in a way that it’s really not certain what it would actually be.

The money was better, but that would come regardless. Our TA still falls woefully short of our peers in sections other than pay.

Then there is the • sales job video Isom pushed out to all of our iPads.

Then there were emails from the APA president doing one thing, then emails from the board doing another, outlines for counter offers, some turnover on the NC, the vote got cancelled, so now we are reopening negotiations I guess? The ship is sinking, but the band is playing on… the band is also playing three different songs.

APA just voted to send what they are calling TA 2.0 to the membership for a ratification vote. Voting opens the 7th and closes the 21st of August.
