Next PUBNAT is...

My husband was offered the Chicago center when he was in OKC! They really needed people and were hoping that some would switch to Chicago.

Looking for anything in those states but if I had a chance to choose I would pick....

NY-BUF/ROC/SYR/ALB/ELM/BGM
PA-PIT
NC-CLT/RDU/ILM
SC-CHS/SAV
VA-RIC/ORF

On a side note Im not being picky and saying these are the only places I would go, I would be thrilled with a offer to go anywhere but AK. If Chicago needs people I would love to go there I love that area.

Just off the top of my head, I am going off memory here so it might not be completely accurate...

BUF needs people according to a buddy of mine. I have no idea about the rest of those airports in NY outside of the big three in NYC area.

I would say no on PIT.

I would say no on CLT (almost 30 developmentals) and RDU. I have no idea where ILM is at all...

I would say no on CHS and SAV.

I have no idea about Norfolk or Richmond, but I wouldn't think many people would want to go to Norfolk.

ACK always needs people.
SEA needs people.
ORD needs people.
C90 needs people.
MCO no go.
TPA hell no on the go (almost 35 developmentals). Could get in possibly, but you would have a crappy schedule for YEARS unless they have rotating days off.

They wont be good for one year. The only applications that are ongoing and active year round are CTI, VRA, CTO, and REINST... Each pubnat (IF OPENED which I doubt), will be open for a certain amount of time (one week likely).

PUBNAT 7 Panels will meet the week of August 10th. Selection emails afterward, who knows...
 
I think she means our applications are good for a year instead of "expiring" after that particular PUBNAT is over. So if they do open another one for OTS it will be valid for a year for any other PUBNATs opened in that time. But that's what I thought she meant, not that the PUBNAT application would be open for a year. Either way, I hope they open up some more for OTS, my brother in law has decided to put in an app if/when they open up another. He's only 23 so he has plenty of years to wait...HA!

Yes, you got me right. They are trying to avoid all the extra work they are doing when the process the same people over and over and over again.

The ones I pity are the actual HR reps. Once you have their name and e-mail address, they become the whipping boy. I'm sure some have probably set up e-mail filters based on the frequency with which applicants e-mail them. "This one e-mails three times a day. His e-mails will automatically go to the 'respond in one week' category."

I'd be willing to bet some have filters that send messages directly to TRASH
 
I seriously doubt this happens. I've gotten my hopes up so many times. I won't believe it until the FAA puts it on their website.
 
Does anyone know where to find numbers to facilities? Can you call the number in the AFD (Airport Facility Directory for pilots)?

-When you call do you just ask for the Facility Manager?

-When talking to them do you just come right out and ask them about their numbers after introducing yourself?

I'm sure there is a website with all the info on it that you are looking for. BUT...the way we went about it was googling the facility that we wanted to tour, i got the phone number to the aviations security department and came right out and told them who we were and what we wanted, a tour of the facility. They transferred me to the correct person (in this case it was the manager's secretary) she set up an appointment for us to come in. We met the manager, did a tour (it was an up/down facility),talked to the guys up in the tower (they told us what facilities they thought/knew were in real need), talked to the NATCA rep for about 15 seconds, and asked a bunch of questions to anyone who had the time. The secretary was actually the biggest help, she gave us a copy of the .65S, told us about their facilities hiring needs (which were zilch, they had like 8 developmentals and were a level 9), and told us to come back or call if we had any questions. Now this was back in March 2008, right after we took the AT-SAT, but I'm sure the method of getting in is the same everywhere.

These are regular people who started out just like us, waiting on the government to give them a nice cushy job (HAHA!!). They want you to succeed, they want to be helpful.

I would definitely say the NATCA rep would be the best (at least initial) contact. ATMs are generally pretty busy and you dont want to risk the chance of resentment b/c you went straight to him instead of the NATCA liaison.
 
I went straight to my Air Traffic Manager. He was glad to take the time to talk to me (of course, this is AFTER I got my TOL.)

I first spoke to the secretary and introduced myself and she said something to the effect of "OH, your name sounds familiar... Yep, you're on the list to be coming in after you go to the academy. Let me transfer you."

I was quite impressed.

Then again, my facility is a level 8 up/down.
