New San Diego startup: California Pacific Airlines

Anyone got the info on the requirements they're looking for. I've already sent my stuff in. Would be nice to move back home. I'm tired of the east coast!!!!!!!!:insane:

I would probably wait and see how things turn out before burning your bridge for a start up that shows no sign of making it past a few months.

The new terminal at CRQ is awesome. My daughter was born in Encinitas and I would take her up to CRQ when there wasn't any 9-11 boogeymen to scare everyone. The airport back then, like most pre 9-11, was very open. If you wanted to hop the little wall separating you from the AC no one would stop you. We would go into Cinema Air's hangar and look at all their cool aircraft. CRQ is quite locked down these days. Still nice to go and enjoy some aviation there. They should put in an observation/kid area like VNY did.

I think it will be great to see some new use at CRQ. Oh and don't think for a moment that the TSA wont start giving CRQ more attention. If they can get their grippers into the pie they will. For all the Debbie Downers here, airlines have started and ended how many years? It isn't your money so who cares. JetBlue out of LGB was also looked down upon and then when they showed success out of LGB more carriers showed interest again. The only possible downside will be the NIMBYs who live very close to CRQ.

Since it has been a while since I've flown down there, whats this about a new restaurant? Is it GA accessible? It would be great to have a new 100 burger to enjoy.

nice:

Looks pretty upscale, not the normal airport greasepit

Same, I went to High School in Carlsbad and I used to walk down to the airport and hang out on the hill under the runway and watch planes land.

Parents have a condo a few miles SE of CRQ since '79. Last time I as there was '83 or '84, and the airport restaurant was a little upstairs wooden building. Don't remember the name of it though.

Mike that one has been gone for a few years now. I remember it downstairs though, same kinda thing though, old wooden building. I bet that condo is worth some cashola now vs. the purchase price in '79.

p.s.
what is with those victory bikes? Who is pro/con? They don't appeal to me. Just not feelin it!

It's a 3 story condo, bought at the time new-build for $92,000.

Yeah, the restaurant was upstairs, and downstairs was a pilot shop...at the time. I remember the restaurant name written in script on a wooden sign in the shape of a P-51 Mustang.

Well lucky for me, I guess, that my only bridge right now is unemployment so CPAir is my best option right now, at least to get back home anyway.

The rumors I've heard are 4500 hours or more to get any interest. Granted... They need airplanes to hire into first.

Well if that's true, than that sucks!!!!

Just out of curiosity, why does that suck? They are hiring guys to be captains (or FOs with a short upgrade if they grow at all) on a 70 seat jet that is going to be operating internationally (if you can call Cabo international).

I don't think 4500 is anything out of the ordinary for the job.

Let's just hope the pay won't be "regional" pay.

But we al know they could pay $10/hr and they'd still have applications coming in...

Why does it suck, you ask? Because they're not hiring 250hr guys, thats why!

:sarcasm:

E170 in CRQ? Someone explain to me is that possible? It is a little pain in the butt with a Corporate jet let alone, with an Airliner.
No kidding. Too short, too much flight training and less than adequate ATC. Nice facilities but not one of my favorite places to fly to.

Didn't Mesa used to have an airline called "California Pacific" (CalPac) is what they called it back then - 1993-1995?

I heard they are requiring 4000 121 time, even for first officers? Anyone heard anything else?

Listen.....I was just expressing my opinion that it sucks personally for me, because I don't have 4500 hrs, but I do have more than 250hrs. In fact I have 2500+ hrs with 1600+ of 121 time!!! Man, there is always one or two people that can't help being jerks.
