New San Diego startup: California Pacific Airlines

Sweet! They seem to have a pretty impressive lineup for their managment team. I wonder if they need a material manger? I'm semi-available and might be permanantly so in the near future; and it'd be nice to move back home!:D

I wonder if they need anyone to do sales for them. I would gladly hit up the people at San Diego travel agencies and major companies to cut deals.

I can think of a lot of tech and biotech companies in San Diego who could use a carrier to fly their employees to the Bay Area.

Hmm...maybe I'll have to check out their site for employment opportunities.

E170 in CRQ? Someone explain to me is that possible? It is a little pain in the butt with a Corporate jet let alone, with an Airliner. Not even 5000 feet of runway the last i checked- unless there is another airport in that area that i am not sure of.

When I was working there in October they were saying that they were extending the runway this year so SkyWest could bring CRJ's into the field. I don't know if it's happened or not, but I know the flight schools on the field were a bit worried about it seeing how they would have to move their operations to one of the surrounding airports while it went on.

E170's operate in and out of EYW. That's a pretty tight fit too but it can be done.

Only 66 seats in their 170s due to first and business class.

I'd guess they won't be restricted out of there except for the most extreme fuel requirements.

Their brake usage expenses may be high though.

I'm convinced that there is not an aviation job/opportunity posted in this country without you knowing about it. :)

That's the only thing about being unemployed, I'm pretty much up-to-date as to who is hiring and who isn't. I send Doug the contact info I have for this place to see if they want to come out to NewtworkJC and the Expo.

I was on FlightAware the other day and it had a SkyWest CR7 go from LAX-CRQ.

Pretty good numbers for the CR7 at sea level at weights that would be had just from LAX to CRQ.

I've flown in/out of CRQ a lot and it is a busy airport. Lots of people would rather fly out of there vs. SAN.

Anyone have the contact information for this place to send a resume?

Due to no viable area to build a new airport to replace SAN, they have decided to utilize CRQ and several other county airports as relivers for Lindburgh. The current project is to re-surface the runway and add a non precision approach for RWY 6. The runway extension is in final planning stages. They're looking to extend the runway another 1,500 feet or more.

CPA will do things a little differently, they will actually configure their planes with 70 seats. 6 First Class, 20 Business Class, and 44 Economy.

I give it a year... ok 2 years (tops) till theyre out of business and the Owners are MIA

Obviously it's all a risk. It could become very successful or fail miserably. If you get hired on in the first wave of pilots and the company will do well and grow, you'll be in a nice position (like jetBlue). Worst case scenario, they'll fail, fold and you'll get furloughed... well, laid off actually (like Skybus). :D

I hope it does work out for them! It seems like a good idea... kinda. Its been tried before many times in that area and it never seems to work.

It was quite a flexible jet with the (sensible) 70-seat config. Quite a sprightly.

And have a E170 type and be current...hello contract world.

Here in Brazil, Azul flies the E190 to Santus Dumont in Rio de Janeiro, which has a 4341 feet runway, body of water on both side, and some pretty big hills (sugar loaf) around it, approach is done mostly Visual....

I have seen a 737-800 and an Electra landing there...

AeroRepublica, in Colombia, goes to some crazy airports in the mountains with the E190.

but this is nothing anyway...if you go to London, check out London city, 3543 feet runway, Airlines operate A318, E170...British Airways has a flight London city-JFK with the A318...

Apparently they lengthened the runway to 4948 feet before the A318 and E170 started flying into there.
