New Movie... Disney PLANES!

My kids LOVED it, I liked it.

I really liked how they animated the flying. I really laughed at the JFK arrival sequence, and having Val Kilmer and Anthony Edwards voice the F-18 was a cool touch.

Overall, it wasn't Oscar material, but it was a good way to spend a hot summer afternoon in the air conditioning.

WHY OH WHY DO THEY HAVE DANE COOK IN IT?

Aeeeeeeeeeeigh. If Dane Cook's a standup comedian, I'd better start doing amateur hour.

Because the original male actor ended up quitting the project shortly after it went into production, his name is escaping me right now though.

Racist would have been to have an airplane with Asiatic features that had great difficulty flying, or if that AA jet had tried to dance, but was terrible (I'm assuming it was depicted as nothing other than Midwestern Newscaster-plain version of an American). Or if that Latin plane had threatened to cut a fellow suitor with his damascus steel prop.

But I guess they already had it in the can by then. I probably shouldn't ever write kids' movies…

So, to all you pilots......

Do planes really talk, dance, get pissy, and show all the emotions that we humans do? I guess i didn't know that planes, such as a crop duster, were so spunky! I AM just assuming that the aircraft in this movie act and feel just like their REAL LIFE counterparts?!?!?

If so, we live in a very strange world.
I can only imagine how a salty old freight train acts.......... Trains, such as, "Thomas the train", act........ well, different. Freaky, if you will.

I would love to make a version of "JC Planes" where we use the online personas of users as characters.

Just went to see it with the lady, I thought it was great. The JFK scene had me laughing a bit, as did the AA spot.

But I must say, there were a lot of jokes that I think only people involved in aviation would get. The Spanish serenading (sp?) scene was funny too.

I hear there's a race too...

Just like Cars and Turbo and Wreck It Ralph!

I just sound grumpy! Ha!

Actually, that's not racism either -- that's still just use of a cultural/ethnic stereotype.

The key to "racism" is believing that one race is better/superior to another, which is inferior, based solely on race. If there is no judgment about worth/capability/importance based on that stereotype, it isn't racism.

I call dibs on the scary-but-ultimately-benevolent wizard who lives in the hangar at the far corner of the airport!

"What did he say?"

"My word, son, did you go to school? An education, fine sir, do you have one?" :)
