New Movie... Disney PLANES!

For the amount of money they extorted out of their employees, buying their way onto a film is just rotten.

That and ungh... Dane Cook.

No thanks.

It's a great movie for: kids, dates, or time killing.

Some of you folks expect way to much out of this movie.
It's entertainment. That's it.

I can totally see the racist angle. An Indian girl/plane was voiced by a Bollywood star.
Or John Clease as the Brit. Or Carlos Zarquoi the voice of the Mexican plane.

I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty disappointed with it. I was a big fan of Cars, and had high expectations for Planes. But it lacks everything that made Cars (and all other Pixar movies) great. The story line is predictable and short-sighted, the characters never really get developed, and the attention to detail that Disney/Pixar usually has is non-existent. Hell, I'd even say the movie was downright racist.

It's not a Pixar movie, so why the hate on Pixar?

Sorry. Originally put in some foul language about how how dumb you have to be to associate this as being racist.
Satirical sarcasm should have been added.

Saw the movie last night. Totally missed the Top Gun connection.:(

I'm no fan of Dane Cook but I didn't see any of his annoying stand-up persona in "Dusty." The only part of the movie that made me facepalm was the "nice paint job" comment, though I did notice the AA jet lacked the American titles. Thought that was odd for an obvious product placement.

I thought that the animators did a good job of rendering the aircraft, especially the "Skipper." That's very uncommon in animation. It's obvious, though, that this isn't Pixar which is a bit distracting but easy to look past. It's a bit formulaic, but most movies are these days. Hollywood is lazy.

I give it 4 trooper helmets:

He has to be in it. Voice acting roles are all that's left for him. Rumor is after he made that stupid grocery boy movie that he banged Jessica Simpson and once you've boarded that career failboat you can't show your face in Hollywood.

You DO remember how she almost single handedly destroyed the Dallas Cowboys, yes? Tony has been stale.......

Wait, I like that part I just typed, it completes the sentence. "Tony Has Been"!!!!!

Just because Romo blamed her for being a distraction doesn't make it her fault. Romo is a level of FAIL all his own.

Compared to Cars, I don't think it was worth all the hype it had around it. The kids liked it and I guess that's all that matters.

No... But it does have a very accurate Shorts 360. :P
Well, it's a low rated B-movie for me now and they will not get my $57.34.... Or however much it cost to see a flick these days!

But........

It does have a Corsair, yes?

I thought it was pretty good. Not nearly as cleverly thought out and written as most of the Pixar movies are (and, yes, I know it isn't a Pixar movie), but it certainly did not suck on the level that many of you are claiming.

It had some nice tips-o-the-hat to real aviation, but my biggest disappointment is that, unlike the obvious references to real-life NASCAR/F1 cars and drivers in Cars, there were no such references to actual Reno or Red Bull racers.

Yes, there was a Gee Bee, and a couple warbirds (a Corsair, a razorback Mustang, A Sea Fury, and something else that is slipping my mind right now), and Ripslinger is very close to the Nemesis NXT Sport Class racer, and there was a passing dialogue reference to the post-WWII Cleveland Air Races...but that was it. There was a Reno Air Races poster on Skipper's wall, too.

I think a couple folks in this thread have a misunderstanding of what "racism" is.

Having characters that closely reflect cultural stereotypes isn't it.
