My guess is you are a first year FO who has their first gig outside of CFI'ing, if you ever did much of that even. Honestly, it gets better man. Hang in there. I'm a big pessimist but only because I don't like to be disappointed, but I still think the job is great. Even at the regional level. No, it's not as good as working for FedEx making $300k/yr but you'll get there. Provided oil doesn't go to $200/bbl in 2 months and our economy doesn't shut down and all airlines merge into one national carrier and contract by 95%.
Totally agree. Its not that flying is not fun its great. Its not that the industry sucks, its fun. However if something else came up as far as an offer I also know that no matter what regional I am at I'd probably accept the offer and pursue it. That being Corp, major, fractional what not. Or even if some office job came up in which my degree was in and its an offer I cant reject I'd take it as well. Thus far I've not had anything but fun and enjoyable experiences with my flying (all together regional/cfi/student). Thus if something came along like Merit got I'd have to consider as I think all of us would to some extent with the way things go. In the end you have to worry about number 1 (thus the reflection in the mirror) and your family. Therefore I know Merits caught some grief but he made a great decision that put him in a better place. One in which I myself would have to consider as I believe we all would. Its all.
