New 175 Delivered to RAH. Why?

This makes it seem like only one more got added... I would have a hard time believing you all would get those others right now but other things have happen. Especially with just about every regional offering LOA's I'd be shocked to see new airplanes on RAH property with the others parked right now. Who knows.

We did only get one more added..?? My point was why did we take delivery of a new airplane when RAH has 17 planes sitting. Why didnt BB just take one of the 170's and put it to work for US Airways??

Probably one of those issues where you order 2 kegs for a party but only 15 people show up.

Because (and this is for meyers), RAH is just that cool. :bandit: Seriously though, curious about that myself, but around here we have no more good info on what's really going on than anyone else does, so guess time will tell.

Is that really a problem;)

On a serious note, It takes more than a few days to make an airplane. It was probably already in the pipeline down in Brazil, so It would cost more to try to pull a half finished plane out of the line than to actually make it. Secondly its probably in the Airways CPA that they need X number of 86 seat 175s where the 170s that are parked are 76 seaters.

Wait, the 175s are EIGHTY SIX seaters? I had hoped that had ended with the Mesa -900s, but oh well. Another mainline size airplane at the regionals.....

What the matter with having a couple more seats? Just mean a few more people are going to make fun of your landings.:D

Newer then me in the industry and showing great class.... Again greatly appreciated by another newbie of RAH.

Anyways back to the thread no one knows but BB. Perhaps you all can e mail him and inquire as to why he did such. I'm sure as you all know he runs a solid company until he leaves it. Thus he probably has a reason for the madness. Or perhaps some legality in the contract for these news birds. SO much more that goes into this then just adding a plane. Business law and partnerships would be a good place to go an educate yourself about contracts and thus how its hard to get out of such if you signed on the bottom line for new planes they are yours. If you are lucky perhaps delaying the delivery can occur but it depends. Regardless thus no one knew what was going to happen with the frontier stuff and the rest of the industry. Therefore the planes were purchased long before this and the financial responsiblity is on RAH for them I would assume. Now one of the many lawyers we have perhaps could state how RAH could get out of these new planes or thus delay the options. But too much red tape for me to explain.

Lastly RAH is about as cool as Mesa/Skywest/PDT/Gojets/TSA/AWAC/Comair etc etc... we all work for regionals and all regionals suck....

Oh no you did not just say that.... watch out Steve for your back now! I've got your covered but you just open some worms!

Anyone know what year the ATR-72 was first certified or when it was first flown by a US carrier?

Thanks

(It's not thread creep if you really think on it.....)

:D Careful Meyers doesn't like anyone who likes where they work. Especially new guys at RAH...:sarcasm:

BB just wanted the "400th" thing painted on the side. If it wasn't for that he would have scrapped it. :sarcasm: But who knows probably what was said about it already being assembled and couldn't defer the delivery.

PS: The above comment was made in jest and was just messing around so don't take it the wrong way!:D

No, he didn't open a can of worms. He doesn't and never has come across like you have in the past.

Yes, the 175's have 86 seats. Don't like the scope? Talk to Airways about that.

I find it entertaining that just because I haven't been at RAH long you think I am newer than you in the industry... Also, all regionals suck? I'm sorry you don't like your job, but having a bad attitude about it won't help anyone including yourself. Show up to work glad you even have a job right now, and smile buddy!;)

Haha guess I should have written that in my post too, its fairly sad when you're taken seriously everytime you dont use ":sarcasm:"

The fact of the matter is not that anyones hates their job. The fact of the matter is that regional flying in general sucks. Its a job as a means to an end. That is the approach I've taken to it. Much like college, it was a means to an end to something better. THUS if you want to stay at RAH your entire career, which you've stated you might enjoy, that's your cup of tea and thus more power to you. However if your goal is to move on and get into something better to improve the QOL for you and your family and thus a better life in general your thought on regionals as a whole would be much like mine. Which is all of them are just that regionals and thus sub par to the ultimate goal. Therefore IMO they stink.

However as your co worker already addressed it as to what most would think as far as to why the delivery of this AC. Probably more to the story then we all know. Thus legal terms in which is non of our business.

Oh trust me... Its only Meyers who has a strong feeling about scope? I'd beg to say Steve and much like others have strong thoughts on this issue. I forone however couldnt care less what you think and therefore will state my thoughts on the issue.

However you are right its the West side to blame on giving up that scope. Thus Mesa went there and shortly came RAH. However after being in CLT and at the training center they are cross training all FA's into the E190. More E190s are coming over to mainline in the near future. Also road with a guy who is transitioning into the E190 and cannot wait for mainline. Stated they have E190's comming and more Airbus in the future. Thus scope as we all know mainline (Airawys) will be trying to get back down. :) then we will see what happens.

Its in RAHs best interest to get as many of the larger, more survivable, airplane on property. USair wanted 175s not 170s...So it doesnt make sense to say,"hot bout those 170s that you had before, you want them back instead of the newer larger plane?"...

If you think college was a means to an end, you really need to stop and smell the roses (ie enjoy the ride). I would think the majority of people had the exact opposite feeling, in that college was fun and we didn't want to leave! (I did, but only to start flying)

My guess is you are a first year FO who has their first gig outside of CFI'ing, if you ever did much of that even. Honestly, it gets better man. Hang in there. I'm a big pessimist but only because I don't like to be disappointed, but I still think the job is great. Even at the regional level. No, it's not as good as working for FedEx making $300k/yr but you'll get there. Provided oil doesn't go to $200/bbl in 2 months and our economy doesn't shut down and all airlines merge into one national carrier and contract by 95%.

Once again, you coming out with your bad attitude! You don't care what I think? It doesn't matter what I think...the scope is there because the pilot group APPROVED it. Get it through your thick skull. Move on. Worry about your own scope and your own flying. You talk and even add smilies about the scope being shrunk back down...shows your true colors at least. Oh, one more thing, there's a thing called a contract in place right now with Republic and Airways...just FYI.
