Network, Network...for the love of God, NETWORK!

It's going to be a bit preaching to the choir, but after the day I just had along with @Gonzo, I felt it necessary to write a post.

If you take nothing else away from this website, network your asses off. @Derg has built a platform that, if you use it properly, can lead to you ending up where you want to go in life. It has helped me make some friends that I probably wouldn't have had otherwise, it helped me get a job when I was furloughed and has helped others get jobs with my current company. It's a fact, it works...use it, damnit.

Without this website, today wouldn't have happened...and the sum of what did happen, is something I'm still having trouble comprehending. Day started off with the tour of SJIWHQ and getting introduced to the System Chief Pilot, followed by a trip around the Delta Flight Museum (GO, thank me later), another tour of SJIWHQ by one of @Gonzo's friends...followed by drinks with same friend, who brought along interns...those interns then got us into the A320 simulator for a few laps around the patch. Any one of those things along would have been noteworth and awesome...I might ask someone to slap me tomorrow to make sure I wasn't just dreaming (no, it won't be you...there's a line and you're not next).

For those who are new or are just lurking in the shadows...get on here, make friends, network, attend events/M&G's...and network bishes.

@Derg, thanks again for all you do...there's a reason why we listen/pay attention, why we're behind you and why we ain't gonna let no one talk bad about you :)

#JCMafia, 4lyfe...yo :D

Wow sounds amazing! Networking is actually why I have come back to this site after a long hiatus (got caught up in the negativity and cesspoollness of other forums). Any recommendations on how to start when you literally have no connections on the inside?

NJC, for starters. But also your post here, people watch. Don't be a jackwagon. NJC is a good way to put a name to a face.

As Max said...post on here...re-introduce yourself with your background, what you're doing now and what you want to do in the future...that way others can see it and go "OH, I can probably help". Ask questions and get involved...in Taylor terms, you can't score a touchdown if you don't hit the bat with the ball ;)

Keep an eye open on the M&G's section to see if there's one near you or near an overnight.

Be involved and don't be a jackass (or pee on the carpet's in Doug's living room).

That's awesome. But hey man, this stuff is no secret. NJC is a great way to meet people from all over the industry, but you can only say it so many times, people need to act or and make an effort to earn friends. Then they have to not be a Richard. That's asking a lot for some people, but the good one's will get it. The "Lulz internet anonymity" crowd will never know what they could be missing out on.

What type of networking? Like ad hoc? LAN? DHCP?? lulz

My first time in a sim was in that same building on the 777. My friend was an intern and got me in. I will never forget how awesome that sim bay was. :D

I keep trying to make it to one of these pacNW M&G's! I always seem to miss them, I know there is a large crowd on JC who live up here and even though I am very light on experience I would love to get a chance to meet with some of you. Maybe I will be able to make it to NJC, but if I happen to be in training for a pt 135 operation at that time an heading to memphis it may not happen. That is my goal anyway, only 15 more hours to go in commercial!!!

I do agree that this website has been a great source of networking and information, the few I have met in here have been very helpful and a lot of fun to talk to!

Well shucks, I knew there had to be some other way than dropping trou and waving the little lad like a showboy at a bullfight.

If you have a time or date that works best for you make a thread and there is usually at least two of us around.

This. People can always tell when you're doing it the other way around. Always.
So can girls.....they're pretty good at that....knowing if you're doing it the other way around.

On a more serious note. It does more harm then good to network for networking purposes. I have never understood the mindset of, " you have me your email, you owe me a letter" mentality.

Flown a 757 yet? Don't seroconvert too soon!

Fifi I swear was modeled off of the 757. All of my pitch/airspeed/drag profile mindsets I used on the 757 work like a charm on her. Keep the wide cockpit and add in the comfy sidestick, tray table, and dual tillers? Yes please! Just needs a bit bigger motors. :)

Sounds like an awesome day, yall!

As far as the networking thing, my rule of thumb for an LOR is as simple as that it is easy for me to write one for said person. That means I know you well enough as a friend and pilot, and you have convinced me you're not gonna act a fool with my name attached to it.

And btw @Screaming_Emu - you fit that criteria.... I'm just awful at checking my dl web email. I'll get on that, I swear. :)
