ouch!

Hey Kristie, I am interested in what is happening around here, although I don't often have a response. You'll find I always try to post uplifting or educational posts. If I say something I want to make sure it is good information. That's the reason I don't say much. It also takes a long time for me to type:) You'll find in Las Vegas I'm no wallflower!

One thing I do want to mention to you and Doug.

I wanted to be a pilot all my life. I thought it couldn't happen for me since when I was a young man it was 85% military. Once I decided to look into being a pilot last year (Sept.), your's was one of the first website's I found. I began my flight lessons at Reid Hillview with ASA (formerly Doug's flight school.) After one day (October 1) I found out their integrity leaves something to be desired. That night I used your forum to come up with an alternative. (ATP) Now I'm a MEII. Because you provide this forum, it appears many, many people have a source for information, and support to follow their dreams. At least I have found that here.

Thank you.
sincerely Dale

see you in Vegas

[/ QUOTE ]yup.. granted I know your name and pilot602.. but I actually did not keep the addresses from last year which is why everyone who was there last year has to remind me what their email addresses are....

my bad - but this year, i'm creating a database (yes, NOT to be sold to anyone just in case you were wondering) for Network JC 2005...

quit working and go fly more so you can finally get a job!

Well, I think we finally found a hotel. The casino's are just going to be too expensive for rooms (over $150 per - yeah, ouch!) and I've based my decision on room rates since everyone is paying their own and I know we'll all be "on a budget".. so...

the Hawthorne Suites on Duke Ellington Way (walking distance from MGM) is most likely going to be our choice spot. they have these rooms at these GROUP rates:
->one bedroom king suite (625 sqft) at $89 per night
->one bedroom double suite (625 sqft) at $99 pn
->two bedroom queen suite (850 sqft) at $129 pn
->two bedroom king suite (900 sqft ) with 2 bathrooms at $139 pn

That's really the cheapest I can find for a GROUP rate. The suites are suites in that they include a fully equipped kitchen with coffee maker, hair dryer, phones with dataports, iron & ironing board. The hotel site has complimentary DAILY full HOT breakfast, outdoor swimming pool (yes, it'll still be HOT but cooling down), fitness center, 85% non-smoking rooms.

After talking with the hotel - in order to be able to have this GROUP rate, we have to guarantee 30 rooms..so keep that in mind! We will also probably get one room for those that are coming in on saturday for the day ONLY. we will use that room as a hospitality suite of sorts but will require a small fee from those who plan to use it to freshen up, keep their bags at etc...

Right now - we're thinking we'll hold a 2 hr networking mingle session with hors d' oeuvres (snacks) and a hosted bar (water, cokes, beer & wine only). luckily, the bar is relatively inexpensive since it's draft beers & house wines (they don't have a liquor license except for beer/wine) - so that helps the bottom line for us as well. If it lasts over 2 hrs, we'll just take the party elsewhere and continue on...

let me know your thoughts...we "try" to aim to please!

One thing to mention too is that the Hawthorn is close to the strip, right across from MGM and uber convenient for bunking extra people because they have a suite-setup with a living room, dining room, kitchen and a bedroom. I think a 1 br suite would easily house at least four people.

Put me down for one of these. Who wants to share with me? Ophir, you in?

I'll be coming out for at least Friday through Sunday, and may come in on Thursday night.

Kristie is right, folks, these rates are as good as you are going to get. That price for the king suite is lower than a single room goes for at a place like the Mirage or Treasure Island.

WOW.. that's kewl too... but the event is on 9 25, not 9 24

I really like the background altho i think it needs to be more square to fit on a Tshirt...

I like the 3D effect of the wording (network jc).. but it's a bit difficult to see the JC part of it...

overall though - VERY NICE! hope you don't take my critique to heart!!
grin.gif

I think something like that would work wonderfully on a black tshirt - thoughts?!
smile.gif

Oh yeah...I take critiques VERY personally!!!!
wink.gif
Nah, as long as their constructive I like them, usually.

This isn't for a t-shirt, I was just tooling around tonight. If you're interested, I could try to do something along those lines though.
