Many of the MQ-9s operating since Russia first invaded have been flying with their ADSB transponders emitting, and people have been routinely tracking them. They usually fly long-legged holding patterns perpendicular to what's being observed.
This is a pretty typical example, where they are well-away from any aircraft transiting Crimea/Kerch strait.
Of course that's just the ones transmitting.

I've been wondering the same. I understand the prop was damaged and assume the commie either trailed something or maybe flares?
The prop is pretty short to bump it.

(NewsNation) — Military officials confirmed Russian fighter jets struck a U.S. drone over international waters.
Two Russian Su-27 aircraft intercepted a U.S. Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance unmanned MQ-9 aircraft over the Black Sea. One aircraft struck the propeller of the drone, requiring it to be brought down in international waters.
U.S. Air Force Gen. James B. Hecker, commander, U.S. Air Forces Europe and Air Forces Africa, confirmed the incident.

Society is what it is today BECAUSE the young(er) generation hasn’t really been through a truly “on the brink” period. You know you’re doing well as a country when your main complaints revolve around gender, feelings, and who’s offended.
I, for one, say bring on mandatory military service like Israel. 2 yrs min at age 18. Come back at 20 and go to college or the work force. Would change perspectives real fast.
