Morbid curiosity. Upgrade times?

Upgrade times are always changing, but current upgrade times can at least provide a snapshot. Out of morbid curiosity, how long was it before the most junior Captain upgraded at:

1. Delta
2. American
3. United
4. SWA
5. JetBlue
6. Spirit
7. FedEx
8. UPS
9. Alaska
10. Hawaiian

Would be interesting to see this graphed. DOH / Date of first upgrade opportunity
I think you got them in exactly the correct order - barring mergers, acquisitions, bankruptcies, and other unforseeable stuff.

You might swap SWA and "Untied", but that's right there in the union name, eh? SWAPA. (Who the heck would have faith in a union of the UNTIED?)

EDIT: Since your original post was from almost two years ago, the question at hand is: Well, what did you determine? Where you at? When did you upgrade?

Here’s another kicker…

You need the “special” one day ground school class and a trip with a CKP to be division qualified for “Latin America” flying, thus enabling you to operate to CUN.

However, the trip with the CKP can not be to CUN as it is not to be used as an initial qualification trip for the said division qualification as it is not challenging enough.

🤷
It’s just dumb all the way around.

It's down to one day now?

Back in 2021, it was about 4 hours worth of material crammed into 2 days.

Don't worry, Scrow! A lot of 'tards live really kick ass lives. My first wife was a 'tard. Now she's a pilot!

One day ground school just demonstrates our progress as a species! We're getting far more efficient at placing the check marks in the boxes! 'Saul good, man!

Well I guess. I upgraded at the first opportunity at Alaska and it took 5 years to the day.

Sir, this is a Wendy's.
Don't worry, Scrow. I understand that... much too brightly. It's all french fries these days.

I just keep pounding on the wall in the apparently chimeric hope of waking the neighbors and expanding and changing the situational awareness.

And I never eat hamburger; I know all too well how meat packing plants work. "Fresh" or frozen... don't matter.

I started at AA in Jan of 22 and went to LGA initially on the Bus, which is only D. Then I moved to PHL in July 22 which "required" an I. They sent me to ground school at the beginning of July and then----nothing. A year later, I still have no LA or LT qual because they have no check airmen and it's not a priority it seems. I have let them know twice, which is one more time than I should have in popular opinion. The last time it was "well, you're on the list" so I've dropped it.

In practice, the problem has been the 162 mile limit in the Gulf trying to avoid Wx more than anything else. Few of the pairings I get have involved anything that requires those quals and they've only removed me from 2 or 3 sequences that involved an LA or LT qual. But winter is coming and I would like to do some island flying if I can get it.

* in spirit of the original thread, I'm a Jan 22 hire and a guy in my class got 737 MIA CA*

Buddy of mine was dying to fly to his hometown of SJU.....Couldn't do it till he "qualified." Lol....San Juan? Really?

Was a aug 22 hire and got Miami initially, had international training 2 days after my Checkride and did my LT/ LA to Bogota and Aruba, all day 2 of OE….granted had 4.5 years in the bus so I wasn’t leaning the plane at that point ….now dallas based, I dot a lot of Mexico, but not one LT/LA trip

Yellow Airbusses plodding their way from PHL to SJU. On a single HF radio, no less.
At least they have approval to operate in WATRS... unlike the 737 operator I work for. We go BWI to SJU by following the coast until we can hang a left over the Bahamas and stay within 162 miles of land the whole way there... 😳
