military Pilots

New AF pilots have to make an effort to get their civilian ticket (Comm Inst ME, limited to centerline thrust for T-38 drivers), it's not automatic.

And I recall reading someplace that no "government pilot" (military, federal, even local law enforcement) is required to possess an FAA pilot certificate as they don't operate under the authority of the FARs.

Yup. They have to take a military equivilency written test, and are issued a certificate based on their qualifications or type ratings.

Correct. Pilots of these public-use aircraft fall under this.

WTFO!! With the new-fangled rules, I probably couldn't even be a cop based on my infantry experience anymore!!!

Gotta be a real Stud (or Studette) to make it in the Corps - physically speaking). Grades? Don't screw up in school.
By not screwing up in school do you mean with doing stupid things or grades?

That being said, they're less concerned about how your grades are and more concerned with how smart you are. However, if you get crappy grades in HS, how will you make it to college?

thats true i guess about the grades and not making college.
what ac does the corps fly? and would any one no the physical conditions to get into corps pilot school? im not in the worse but not the best physical condition so id like to start now(working out and so fourth) Well hopefully i can get a gaurented spot with the corps or something but thats a while away

Better learn to swim if you plan on going to Pensacola for pilot training. That is part of the first phase. After all you are training with the navy

Is that for the Corps or just for any one in general? (AF, Corps, Navy so on) An do you have to go to Pensacola?

I believe you only go to Pensacola for Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard.

Marines currently fly the F/A-18 Hornet, AV-8B Harrier, C-130, H-53, H-46, UH-1, AH-1, EA-6B, and a plethora of support aircraft. Look for the MV-22 to become operational in the next few years.

Being comfortable in the water is really important in the Corps and in the Navy. For Naval Aviators, it's essential.

I came in already with ratings due to the fact that I flew civilian prior to the military. I went in with ATP AMEL-I; Comm-ASEL/ASES

Guys flying Hogs will get a Comm/AMEL-I restricted to centerline thrust. Guys flying C-9/C-130/KC-10/KC-135 will get their appropriate type rating also put on their cert......DC-9/L-382/DC-10/B707-720, respectively.

Because the Air Force guys like to hold Marines upside down and give them swirlies in the toilet. They also should be comfortable around snow since we like to white wash their faces in it after every powder day.

I don't know, lately I have been kicking their asses while hanging them upside down in the toilet so I would actually recommend getting comfortable with getting your ass kicked while in the water or during your white washing.

Well, time to turn in, gotta love base excercises......
