Mesa pilots and plywood

I got 30 hours of that ME time the same way a lot do: training. The rest of it was the same as the ATP and Ari guys: instructing. I just happened to do it not at one of those academy type places.

SWA pays on leg values (or something like that). It's almost the same way PCL pays, except they have a clause that if they go over the alotted time, they still get paid. We have to go 15 minutes over before we start getting paid extra. So, if you block in 14 minutes late, you just flew 14 minutes for free. Also, if we overnight in a base city as part of a trip or unscheduled delay, we get a hotel as well (sorry Amber). Now, if I get stuck in MEM due to a delay, I'm going home, not the hotel. :)

I hope their contract improves as well, but I won't be holding my breath.

Their work rules are absolutely disgusting and it's unfortunate that the type of pilots (starry-eyd newb) that go there are not willing to stand up for a QOL issue.

I hate to say it, but revolutionary change will have to occur - regional industry wide - before we start to see improved contracts. Management will continue to lower the bar - in the regional world - because they seek to increase their bottom dollar and they ultimately want to know how low are we willing to work.
