Mesa pilots and plywood

He's being facetious.....referencing a specific kool-aid drinker here that frequents said viewpoints.

I know, I've read this guys posts. I think he is mocking him, and finally calling him out, by name, all behind his back of course.

I have heard that the guys and gals at Regions Air have to pay for their own accomodations if an aircraft is MX-ed. I wouldn't put it past that company.

You guys are right, the MESA work rules are the worst in the industry by far. I now have a full understanding after researching it last night, except for the 50% deadhead thing. I was wrong. The payscales may be close but do not tell the whole story. The 70K my friend is making at MESA would be a whole lot more money at another airline based on the hours he actually worked compared to MESA just paying "average block". He did say this all should change with the next contract. I understand now why people say you sell your soul for PIC turbine time.

Next, on 300-hr pilots, I give to one to you guys too. You're right about that. They don't belong in the cockpit. Its JO's bright idea to keep the seats filled while he attempts to Walmartize the industry. Wonder what would happen to him if he was locked in a closet full of regional pilots? Instructing is definitely the way to go and I have always planned to do this. I am still backing ATP instructors getting into the regionals with less time. Why? Because they have a WHOLE lot of multi-time, therefore better training environment.

I will no longer argue with you older pilots, only listen and ask questions.

Who are you and what have you done with 777forever?

Me senses BS.....

Nope not BS...I was wrong, no sensible person can look at those kind of work rules and say its ok. It would destroy the industry and bring professionalism to an all-time low. I mean a single pilot with not too many obligations might make it through, but pilots with families, it disgraceful.

Nope not BS...I was wrong

Me still suspects BS, but for my own morbid curiousity, where did this supposed born-again revelation come from? We're not talking a 30 degree change of course here...more like a full 180.

And why are you holding 777forever hostage, whoever you are?

No, more like 170, I still think ATP pilots can reach the regionals with less time do to their boatload of multi-time which at times can be hard to get. At 300hrs, nope dont deserve the right seat yet, but 500 or 600 is ok when you have 200-300 multi

OK. But again, why the revelation? Cause?

Does someone have a gun to your head right now and are forcing you to type?

Nothing behind the back at all. It's all in clear print in this thread for all to see/read. No hiding behind anyone be it a mod or admin. He knew who I was talking about so did everyone else of late!

As for professional....thats why I stopped because as I was typing it all sounded errrr flightinfo-ish!

Max, do you have a gun to his head and are making him type?

:D

Wussies.

We used to sleep on the planes all the time, and we didn't need no pansy-ass plywood to sleep on! Any cheapskate knows you just make a stack of seat cushions in the aisle to bridge the gap. Duh.

Was this on the Shorts? Tell me it wasn't on something like a Jetstream or something similiar. Shorts or an ATP seem able to be made somewhat comfy.

Here in PHX we notice that MESA comes in on a simulated engine failure, WITH the engine feathered. What would happen if tower told them to do a go-around? once on the radio we heard tower yelling at them because they feathered, for landing.

"OMG, missed approach, time to restart, pitch down for 120 kts..."

Yep I didn't go to ATP and was hired with 550 hours total time and about 107 hours of multi.

Am I ok?

O when you say the next contract, I would bet A LOT of money that if the Mesa contract does not improve DRASTICALLY they will be striking. You going to cross the picket line 777?

I don't believe it. You don't need a sheet of plywood to make sort of a bed, you can just pull out a seat cushion and put it accross the aisle, it fits right in and makes a row of 5 seats. Still won't beat a bed.

When I was a bus driver I used to pack a hammock and hang it up from the overhead bins on the motorcoach. I'm suprised pilots are reduced to the same level.
