Meetup/Retreat

Something like that
To be fair, upgrade (even on the shiny) did touch 1.75 yrs for my DOH and people hired about a year and a half before me were looking at sub 5 yr flow. Covid fixed all that.

So Ric Wilson was right, after all.

I've got a story about that for over a beer, not on the internet.

Wasn't, but could have been if it wasn't for a "small blip in the human history"(c)RW
When I came over the company was advertising 5.5, union was saying 7.5, recruiters were saying (5.5 + 7.5) / 2 is probably a good bet.

The person who the EagleLounge Bureau of Investigation believe to have identified as @Dacuj is a big meathead simpleton who earned the moniker "Mongo" when he worked the phones in the CPO over a decade ago. See posts by @bLizZuE elsewhere on this site and it would seem obvious why this guy is constantly seeking out special assignments so as to not have to fly.

At this point, I think the whole @Dacuj persona is a twisted troll job, but sometimes when he posts I really do wonder, because we all know that truth is stranger than fiction.

You know, I'm not positive enough to be certain, but I am pretty sure they still have 145s with that paint job when the 175s started coming online.
I believe it was just a few months ago they still had some 140s flying in the older livery.

I wouldn't look too much into this being called a heritage livery. I believe that's just what AA calls all of their "retro" paint jobs, including the previous AA and Airways livery which wasn't that long ago either.

Remember all those years ago, when times were simpler and

- bankruptcy
- sacrificial class of furloughs (@Autothrust Blue )
- the sweet fleet plan concessionary contract
- airline shrunk in half
- base closures
- name change
- VOTED NO TWICE
- voted in concessions a second time
- 12 hour 4 day trips

I look back fondly, though.

As do I.

Although my positive memories are somehow being ruined by dacuj and his weird obsession with his "cadets".

Balance in the universe.
On talkairline there's a dude with a weekly "the end is near" posts. It was amusing to watch when the two of them would lock in an eternal battle.

Ahh ok. I met Chris W back in the day when he was at Careflite. Apt description.

A friend of mine lost their lunch in the SJU crew room when the furlough letters came out. Fond memories, indeed. I think my class was the most junior left when that happened…yeah. “You are entering a world of pain.”

Glad I left.

"This isn't really a career, more like a gambling addiction"(c) some dude on APC

It's actually pretty fascinating how the stuff works out. In retrospect, there were times that I now wish I enjoyed more by just being in the moment instead of contemplating how it's going to affect the future.

Sure, but seeing people you really like on the chopping block isn’t a good first taste either.

This is true. I wasted like 3 years of my early 30s stressing about crap I read on EagleLounge. But I learned to let things ride, eventually, which helped immensely when section 6 at my current company wasn't going well.

Oh for sure.
OFC reserve list got snapped by Thanos at 1 year in when the sign on bonus payback became 50% prorated. Guys were getting tired of rotting away at crash pads for 5 days at a time not flying. This last furlough wasn't called for and sucked for everyone. Guys that I flew with when I got here all got furloughed at the mainline. And yet, I just grabbed a dinner at La Carreta, cafe con leche from Bacardi and off to enjoy the rest of my vampire schedule 4day.

Forget la Carrera. Ku Va is better and far less expensive.
