Making the move to ALASKA

I think this is very exciting. You've got resources there for living arrangements and family already and that is a huge plus. There are loads of mechanics and pilots up there on this forum who will be more than willing to help you. You're young, realistic and eager. Go for it! Every professional was once only a private pilot. Having another job in aviation and flying on the side seems like a great route to me, anyways. I wish you the very best in your new adventure. Keep us posted, seriously.

Thanks for the encouragement! Yes you have to start somewhere. I'll be sure to keep you all posted as I am making arrangements up there and getting everything lined up down here in MI. I'm very excited for my adventure ahead of me. It's been a dream of mine since I can remember and you are only young once. I don't want to look back at my life years down the road and say I didn't try it. If you don't take a shot at your dream you will always wonder how it would of turned out.
I am private pilot and that's the start. I hope to become a commercial pilot and flying in Alaska down the road is a goal of mine. I also liked wrenching when I did and have worked on a lot of cars in our shop at home along with projects of mine.
I got my PPL right before my senior year. I flew to my senior prom. It happended to be at a grass strip with a rental hall.

I don't know you, so I can't recommend you. However, I can pass along a resume, and ask my sister and brother in law to hand it to the guy who runs Talkeetna Air Taxi.

I don't know if they have an opening or not, and again, since I don't know you, I can't recommend you. But at least I can get it in front of him.

Seven years ago, almost to the day, I got on my motorcycle and rode up to Alaska to take a seasonal job. Ive lived here ever since. Theres lots of cool stuff going on here. Just be careful, the longer you stay the less you want to leave.
Been up here since May 2008 and love it. Had the opportunity to go all over the state and it is very diverse in many ways.

The two companies I sent resume's to have responded. They are both full staffed for the summer but if something happens to change I'll be considered for employment.
So it's a start.

Thanks for the willingness to do the favor. What will be the best way to give you my resume?. I'm assuming email. Yes it is impossible to recommend someone else, you do not know.

I have received another email from ACE and the owner would like me to stop by when I get up to alaska. That's good news to me!. Busy busy with this adventure already :).
Packing my things and getting everything squared away for my trip.
I have a feeling that with your attitude, things are going to go very well for you. Stay connected up there and explore all the possibilities. Can't wait to see how this adventure turns out for you!
