Lightweight roller board luggage

The Briggs and Riley is definitely light. Expensive too but the lifetime warranty helps justify that.

+1.

Still use the one I used for 10 years before I got the LW 22. Light, well built. Will wear out, but they fix it for free, so who cares. Only complaint is that the J-hook isn't bolted to the bag - when it inevitably gets gate checked, the rampers will throw the detachable one away.

See, but if it was an LW, you would never have had to send it for repairs in the first place. Lifetime warranties are great, but I prefer my crap to not break in the first place. LW Stealth for life. 13 years on my bag. I sent it in for a refurb about 2 years ago. Only other thing I'd ever replaced was the foam on the handle and a wheel once about 9 years in. Don't get me started on the absolute crap that travelpro bags are in comparison.

I've got both, either is fine. The travelpro bags are a waste of money though. Agree.

I’ve had my eye on the timbuk2 co-pilot. I’m tired of how heavy the LW bag is and it snags under the Jumpseat on the 737. It’s tough as hell though.

Both my wife and I have travelpro's. Hers died after a year (she replaced it with a Briggs and Riley), and this is my third one. My first one was a tank and lasted for years, the second one lasted for about 2? and died a horrible death while I was on vacation in Japan. When this one dies (which I'm sure it will soon) I will be on the Briggs and Riley bandwagon as well. My wife has been very happy with hers and if you live near ORD Irv's Luggage has them.

I've been looking at those as well, looks promising.

Best I can say is try it out. It works well for me but it is the only rollaboard I've owned. I've always liked Ogio bags I have had a backpack from them going strong on year 6. The Layover Stealth is light enough and I don't baby it. I pack for 7-8 day trips at a time. Never had to jumpseat with it so I cannot comment on how it fits. Fits into overheads fine. Couple of frays on it but nothing terrible now. Zippers all good. Wheels work. Maybe a slight side blow out.

Beats $300+ and 30 extra pounds.

Meh. Costco. $100. Lasts about 3 years. If it breaks before that, I take it back and they give me a new one. After that, I just throw it away and buy another...

Admittedly not as “cool” as a “real pilot bag”...

I bought a “real” bag once. Travel pro. $300. Heavy. Broke after 6 months. Took a month to get fixed. Next time it broke, tossed it!!!

I find the strap works better than the j hook so i just use the included strap

I've had a LW Stealth for nearly 10 years and it is still going strong.

Buddy has a Strongbags and he's not been happy.

I'm in the market for a B&R.

You bought a luggage works not a Travel Pro.

I have the same thought with my bags. A $300 Luggage works that lasts 9 years without repairs costs the same as your Costco bag.

In case anyone is thinking of converting from luggageworks to Briggs, here’s a comparison.

Luggage works executive 22 is a nice light weight option if your not having to gate check your bag all the time. I’ve been using one flying corporate for over 4 years and still looks brand new. Way lighter then the stealth.

We borrowed an executive 22 and don't like the plastic portion of the frame. Maybe we should look into the aluminum frame option. We've also been stopping by the local Briggs and Riley retailer. The 22" domestic two-wheel bag looks great and weighs a lot less than the LW options. @Dexter would you say the the BR bag holds as much as the LW?

I packed for 6-7 days with a few extra items and it easily held all of plus 2 pairs of shoes. It’s a much smaller profile over all than the LW. A lot narrower.

@Dexter, how about a flight case? Do you think the included strap and non-metal frame are built to withstand a 40 lb. flight case?

I think you should re-evaluate your packing if you have a 40lb flight case in 2018 lol. The laptop bag I have doesn’t seem too cumbersome for it with 3 iPads, a headset and other things in it.

There is one tropical airline that still has paper charts. So they actually carry flight cases.

I weighed my flight case once. Had two large jepp binders plus associated company manuals and a DC headset. Came in at 25 lbs.
