Lightweight roller board luggage

I have a Luggageworks 22" Stealth bag. My wife is starting to go more overnights and tried it out, but it's heavy and difficult to lift into overhead bins. I'm looking for something with the same profile, but lighter. She still has paper charts, so needs a bag with a hook and sturdy enough to support the weight of the flight case.

Here are the bags we are considering:

Luggageworks Stealth metal: 14.5 lbs
Luggageworks Stealth Air aluminum no pockets: 11.2 lbs
Strongbags Vortex: 12.8 lbs.

Does anyone have other bags that they can recommend we check out before we make a purchase?
 
I've got the new Vortex and it's been great. Fits in overhead bins handle first. Sucks not having the side pockets, but overall it hasn't been a problem.

Best part is you can do repairs yourself, so it doesn't have to get shipped out when something breaks.

Not to thread hijack, but I bought the 22" Stealth less than 2 years ago and it's a mess. Cracked steel, bent frame, ripped open seam, ripped pocket. Is it just mine or is their quality super overrated for a $300 bag? Are any of the lighter, plastic bags like wayway is looking for available that won't bend and crack to pieces in a couple years?

Did you look at the LW 22" Executive? If I could do it over that's what I'd get.
 
I just ditched the typical piloty suitcase and now use the Osprey Ozone 22” suitcase. I have no regrets but there definitely isn’t a hook. If she’s allowed to throw the paper charts into a messenger bag or backpack that could work. They have a little system that makes it easy to hang their Osprey Ozone messenger bag on the handle.
 
Captain last week loved his LW Executive Aviator.

I've had my stealth for going on 3 years and it is heavy. Reminds me every time I lift it into the overhead how I should probably choose what I lift on my time off more wisely.....beer vs barbells, lately one is the clear winner. That said it's been all commuting, and with the exception of the paint being mostly removed from the frame it is as good as new.

I have a 2009 version of this bag. I've beaten it to hell and had it repaired a couple of times under warranty - that alone has paid for it over the years. It's slightly shorter and slightly wider. Except for those stupid glove-box bins on CRJs, I've NEVER had a problem hauling it or storing.

Any Briggs and Riley gear will have the warranty. If you want BR gear, go to an outlet-type luggage store and look for a discontinued model - warranty will still apply and you'll save a ton of money. I paid a hair over $200 for mine. Customer for life.

I've had mine for 8 years now, I had it refurbished once... Maybe you should stop running over it with your car? ;)

See, but if it was an LW, you would never have had to send it for repairs in the first place. Lifetime warranties are great, but I prefer my crap to not break in the first place. LW Stealth for life. 13 years on my bag. I sent it in for a refurb about 2 years ago. Only other thing I'd ever replaced was the foam on the handle and a wheel once about 9 years in. Don't get me started on the absolute crap that travelpro bags are in comparison.
 
I rocked various bags from REI & Eagle Creek for over a decade with great result. Finally broke down last year for the ubiquitous 'pilot' bag for reasons as of yet unknown to me. The Stealth is roomy and I do like all the various exterior pockets for added carrying room but the weight is honestly annoying.
