The external pull handle assembly and the rubber handle look like two guaranteed fail points on the BR bag. No way.

It's a $100 bag to manufacture so they probably figure on a replacement or two per owner over its "lifetime". Pretty good strategy for a bag costing you $500!

Will be 20 years for my "Purty Neat" bag come August. Back to the factory twice, three handles and two sets of wheels.

A few tips:

Replace the rivets with bolts/locknuts as they come loose.

Put some angle aluminum on the edge that drags. Be sure to grind down the edges.

Few dabs of loc-tight on loose screws.

Wheels can be re-habbed vs replaced. Every few years pull them off, pop the bearing seals off, clean the crud out and add a few drops of LPS-2. Maybe soak in Mouse Milk if they're really dirty. Replace the seals and good for another 5 years.

Or you get a bag like mine where after 1.5 years the wheel bearings welded to the axle and the bolts had to be cut to remove them, also resulting in a crack in the cheap pot-metal casting.

25% airline discount and lifetime warranty...i'll stick with it vs the 30lb empty bag i had that broke in the first 6 months.

@ian how do you go about getting the discount? Did you order directly from their website? I contacted them about a discount, and haven't received a response.

Their lifetime warranty is transferable and doesn't require receipt. Just buy used off eBay. Lots of carry ons for $100-$150.

Why is it that airline guys usually on have the 2 wheel bags, not 4? They just store better?

Those four wheel spinner casters look extremely breakable to me. I don’t trust ‘em.

Secondly, a lot of airline guys and gals carry another smaller bag on the hook strap. When a two wheeler is tilted the load is pretty balanced and you can maneuver the bag with just a finger or two. I’m not sure how that would work on a spinner.
