Life at Compass

Several sources have commented on how there are some FOs leaving, which was unplanned because of the flow. The last I heard was slowing down to 4/month starting in March, but most people think it will be more than that as major/LCCs hire more people without PIC time...

I'm renting a room in Columbia Heights. I love the privacy, but wish I was closer to the training center. My commute can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 1:45 depending on the weather.

I was gonna say... Where the F is that? Thinking you got Mendota confused!

Neither does Delta. Or Virgin America.

As sad as it is that a new hire at any company has to worry about this type of thing on top of already being on first year pay, I think that the lower section of the industry the company is in, the less it makes sense for their union to attempt to use any negotiating leverage to change this policy.

I think this is what would have just occurred at Compass with their new CBA (and according to people I know, it is).

Depending on how things go with airline's ability to attract quality applicants, why use leverage on something that might fix itself in time, in the form of the company deciding, "Okay, we're not getting who we want, let's offer training accommodations." Problem solved; no leverage wasted by pilots.

Is Compass still hiring in to the LAX base or is that complete?
Still hiring, yes. LAX is at capacity now but the bottom half of the FO list will probably be a revolving door for sometime as MSP FO's finally upgrade and LAX FO's who want the MSP vacancies take them. From looking at the list, it seems the top half to 60% of the LAX FO's are staying put and don't want to leave until upgrade. The bottom has lots of guys wanting to go back to MSP or DTW.

Movement is quick! Still 2 weeks of training to go and I'm bidding 50% in LAX.

Thank you "88" Best of luck for you. Curious how long the training is since you are paying your own accommodations.

I started home study Jan 3, returned Feb 3. I'm doing sim 4 (of 7 total) today. Then a few other events then LOE. I have a 10 day break starting today. I'll be done March 31. So almost 2 months after returning from home study which jives with @amorris311 .
