Life at Compass

Can someone explain why one would pick Compass in today's market? They don't offer a bonus or a flow?
Can current employees explain the attraction as well as where are the guys leaving going to work?
I'm new to compass. The pilots seem happier than at many other regionals. It offered bases I could live with, the company seems to benefit from quick upgrade times as few are getting high into the payscales. Compared to a turboprop or CRJ200, the E175 is a bit larger, which means longer and therefore fewer legs in a day. They're not being phased out anytime soon. Bonuses can be yanked away, and flows aren't worth a whole lot. Sometimes the flow can mean having to stick around for 5 or 6 years because you can't get into AA/UA around senior pilots flowing.

If i was looking at Compass right now as an applicant I would look at

Living near LAX, SEA or within commuting distance (4 commuter hotels per month)
Expectation for short reserve time.
good work environment, not to many grumpy people here
Decent enough credit trips most months for lineholders
Still decent movement due to attrition as majors start gobbling up people from top and bottom of the seniority list - supposedly 30-40 leaving next month
Basically a only handful of lifers (less than 10?)
Flying the 170/175 and not having 50 seaters might have a sliver of stability compared to say going to a 50 seat only operator.
These are obviously just a few I could come up with on the spot, QOL is everything especially at the regionals, If people stop appyling I think maybe we'll eventually start to see some bonuses come back, bumping up first year pay to $35/hr was the first step, and people are still coming, so I guess management doesnt see the need to offer more at the moment, we'll see if that comes back to bite them in the backside in the coming months.

Interesting that they are able to fill classes without offering a bonus. How many are showing up to class each month? Also from what you describe, as long as people keep showing up to class, upgrade is as soon as 1,000 121 is reached? If so, seems like a good place for prior 121 guys.

got a friend looking for a regional job, but lives in Alaska… w/ the CPZ commuter hotels and a SEA base, would this be a good option?
I know someone there who commutes from Honolulu to LAX; AK-SEA is considerably shorter distance-wise..not sure about the frequency of flights though.

Hey a question. I'm on a YVR overnight and it's the first Canada overnight I've done in a LONG time. We didn't get any declaration forms for getting back into the US. Do we preclear US customs here in Vancouver or do we go through customs back in LA? If it's back in LA I assume we get the forms from the station here in YVR. If not and we have to clear customs in YVR can I just get the forms for the crew from a ticket agent?

you pre-clear in YVR, just go to the Delta ticket counter near the security entrance and you get the crew declaration forms

if youre doing an AA trip, then I'm sure their counter has them too

Ok, easy enough. That was kind of my tentative plan anyway. Thank you.
