Life at Compass

get irreparably wrinkled...

Pretty simple. Iron the shirt first, then grab your pants and jacket. Next make sure the iron has water and is turned to its max heat setting with the steam function on high. Pull the material flat on the ironing board and with out touching the material with the iron face, steam until the wrinkles sit flat. It only takes ten minutes to not look like you slept in the crew room all week. Tylenol for any headaches, Midol for any cramps.

At least we're getting a QRH procedure on how to get towed into a gate.

"Stand by while we run a checklist"

This place and QRH checklists is maddening.
Sorry, that's a normal shutdown without turning off the RED BCN, FASTEN SEAT BELT, and STERILE lights...right?

(probably some pumps too, since IMS Compass runs them manually, or at least they did the last time I rode up there)

Sorry but did you ever think that there may have been an incident that lead to this procedure?

I want to make it clear, Compass is run by morons, but don't sit there high and mighty. Your airline probably doesn't have enough data yet to tailor the E-180 procedures yet to your needs.

No, I get that too, I'm missing the context. Obviously.

Sounds just different enough from a normal shutdown to be logical in having a written procedure in the QRH.

What context?

The current airplane I am on, the former airplane I was on, and other airplanes at my place have a tow in procedure in the QRH. Are you saying airlines should try to cowboy it with a few flip of the switches?

So every airline you've been at has had a verbal checklist that you go through in order to simply get towed into a gate?

So now it's considered "cowboying" it if you shut off engines to get towed in? Y'all are buck wild and craaaaaaazy.

Wow.

Regional scum!

Tow-in Gate Checklist

Note: This procedure only to be used while on ground.

Condition: Parking at the assigned gate can only be accomplished by connecting to a tug.....

Can't wait to see how far off I am.

2 out of the 3 did. I would say 3 out of 3 but I can't remember the checklist there. @Cruise does your place have a tow in checklist?

I didn't say it was considered anything. But this definiteness of 'sorry it is a normal shutdown' doesn't work either.

Okay E-Jet drivers... pop quiz time.

You pull up to your tow in gate to find no ground crew. Since it is a tow in gate, you decide to go ahead and set the parking brake and shut down both engines. You get busy talking with ops because it seems it might be a bit of a delay. What happens after 6 minutes??

Hint: @Autothrust Blue was thinking along the right track...

Anyone else think this might be the FSDOs' doing because the pilot group was messing up? Just sayin.....
Oh obsolutely...or even just training and management wanting to head off an issue they are seeing before it makes it to the FSDO. Same thing with the Runway Change Check. You know someone got a runway change, didn't change it in the box, and blasted off with the wrong runway plugged in for an RNAV departure and ended up cutting someone off on the parallel.

If you're talking about nosewheel steering, I'm not sure what good it's going to do with both engines off.

It's more than nose wheel steering...

I know where you're going with this, but you'd still have the emergency brake. Hardly checklist worthy.

Again, for the millionth time, there's a REASON. One day when you guys have some time operating them you may be able to make fun of other carriers for their procedures. Hopefully the electro jet doesn't bite you.
