Life at Compass

Rumor has it when you finish this deployment to DTW, your coming to the promise land.

The commanders assigned me a 4 day mission which takes me through the promised land many times in the next few days. Many are saying that the people in the promised land do not take well to my kind. How long till they exile me back to DTW? What is the prediction of the Golden Child of Compass Airlines?

Dude, you should post more!

I had to change my serpentine belt and tensioner yesterday. I couldn't figured out how to get down to the tensioner bolt, so I thought to myself "what would Tom do?". Instead of looking for directions I just went and put on my nicest button up shirt.

Bonus points if you climbed INTO the engine bay! At any rate, normal wrench + PVC pipe. Works on the bimmer. :)

The problem wasn't so much actually getting it off but getting to it in the first place. I pulled out the air box then had to lift the engine slightly so I could remove the upper engine mounts on the belt side. Trying to put the belt on by myself was a whole another fun task.

Anyone have any insight for a Crashpad or cheap hotel in MSP for initial training? Cheers.

I've been looking... there seem to be a bunch around Eagan for 150-200/mo on craigslist. I plan on doing something like that after the home study. I lucked out and have a buddy who lives up there and offered me his spare room during the home study under the notion that "I would take advantage of my crew badge and spend lots of time away from MSP while studying," haha. I don't know about hotels though, maybe an Extended Stay or something similar would have a weekly rate which you could split with another guy in class?

@JEP you need to become a slumlord.

Some of the extended stay / area hotels have rates thru Compass / DL Connection. I think the HR folks have a list of nearby ones and their rates.

Checkout whatever you can. One of my buddies lived at a crashpad and paid a higher roommate rate since he was keeping a truck and living there more because of training.

I just got informed that I could be leaving the country at the end of November. I got a one bedroom apt with a car available that could be split among two or three people. Total cost would be $850/mo it would be perfect for people going to/from the training center at the same time. Any takers?

Are you on the line yet?
