The FAI stuff looks painful.
That doesn't sound safe.Did you have an un-shaven guy dressed like a bum from SafetyTM talk to you?
I've been there plenty in the C5...you want to go to Anchorage not Fairbanks.....I bid the one MSP pairing that included FAI in my first layer.
I've never been to Alaska. Plus, I kind of want to see for myself how hard it it really is and figured it was better to go up there for the first time in the right seat than, you know, on day one off of OE in the left.
I'm guessing I'll regret it but who knows. I mean, we're also talking 18 hours in SAN on that trip or something, so how bad can it possibly be?.

at least the LAX trips are fly up, 24ish hours off, fly back, then deadhead to either GEG or PDX to operate the next morning. So you fly one leg up? Deadhead back??
Yeah I hope its an extra 4hr pay for the long overnight. More pairings are popping up that duty out after midnight followed by 24hr+ sit. All those FAIs, OKC, SAT, and some others too outta LAX.My question was regarding it being a 5 day trip with 3 duty periods. It's got an 18 hr layover, a 24, and a 22ish. Is there an extra 4 hour pay in there somewhere or are you hosed?
PS, In case no one had heard, guys have been getting the 4 hour pay and credit for those 29 hour sits that arrive at 2346 and duty off at 0001. @amorris311
You are hosed from what I can tell. You get in at 1AM but aren't out until 24 hours from then, keeping your flying consecutive in calendar days. I'm having a hard time finding the language for this new deal, but that is how I understand it. Unless it's 25+ hrs, I think you will not be seeing this 4 hr credit where most want it. If you don't see the 4 hour trip rig on anything in the bid package, it is not going to be paying for the "day" of not flying. My question was regarding it being a 5 day trip with 3 duty periods. I don't think that's correct. All of those garbage SAT overnights the last 2 months did not have the pay/credit in the bid pack, but had pay and credit assigned later on.
I agree. But at a minimum I expect 4hrs of pay. That seemed to be the whole purpose of switching away from the ADTG provision. That blows. The whole point is to have that credit in there for the bid package and having the credit go towards the min 85 hrs.

Example is this.. Day 1 fly to FAI, arrive at 1am. Stay 24 hours, depart at 2am. Arrive to Seattle around 6am, then fly to San Diego, and done around 9am. So it's not just 1 leg up and back.
A CDO flight and then ANOTHER leg?
Sounds safe. What could go wrong?

How is a 24 hour stay considered a CDO? I thought CDOs were when there wasn't 117 rest time between flights -- what am I missing?
We used to do 4 leg CDO's at Pinnacle. We used to do 24 hour duty days with 7 legs at IFL.
