Life at Compass

That's interesting. Someone I know said he'll be getting MSP about a month out of IOE.

How has the Delta 717s in LAX affected Compass' LAX operations?

He's being as honest as he can with you. Nobody knows a thing. Don't come to Compass for the MSP base. That's probably the biggest mistake anyone can make. It's impossible to gauge and predict what is going to happen with as much regional movement is going on. Who knows they might shrink down LAX with Delta up gauging and move Compass to say LGA and pick up slack for Shuttle America.

That's a good question. A while probably. Lot's of guys in LAX waiting to go back to MSP. And nobody really knows if it's going to continue shrinking.

Gone are the days of the little Compass/Midwest/Minnesota Airline. Welcome to CompassWEST. Errr... wait. Maybe we'll go back to LGA next?? :p
No

I hasn't... yet. In June the 717 begins operations here. Before SEA was announced we were slotted to do LAX-SMF/OAK 8x daily. We needed to put those airplanes somewhere as the 717 is taking over half the SFO shuttle and all but one LAX-SEA goes mainline. Not to mention, PHX/LAS/SMF going to a mix of CP/OO/717. However, once SEA open they shifted that flying up there. So it's already affected us, but with the AA fly being added every month the level of flying and the amount of pilots increases.

We flew the most for Delta in April with 50 departures a day. In June it goes down to something like 30. Like I said, AA flying makes up for that.

Why, always, SFO turn is the last leg of a 4 or 5 day. WHHHYYYYY

True that (happens to me too at another airline). I'm not against going to SFO on day 1, 2, or 3 of a 4 day. I'm not opposed to making money whilst we wait on our flow time. I am, however, against getting home on time on day 4.

No joke! My last 5 day, I got excited that we were ending with a SAN-LAX leg. After a scheduled 2 hour sit, and an extra 1.5 hour delay, I barely made my 2255h departure out of LAX!

Throttle back there big guy. SFO, as you know, can create long delays. Not fun when you have had a long 5 day trip.

No YOU throttle back there little guy.

EWR is much harder to operate from than SFO. Throw in the fact every leg was through there in a T-Prop made for a lot of 4AM finishes...

The reason you finished at 4am was not because of EWR. Same reason after flying all afternoon we got to "Part 91" to some outstation with MX onboard.

Stop complaining.

SFO is nothing compared to EWR. Right @L-16B?

Every leg through there...

I never minded being based in EWR. Did things delay? Sure, but flights were over blocked enough that most problems were self correcting.

SFO on the other hand, is a complete goat rope.

@jtrain609, the reason why y'all didn't have the EWR issues was you would see it two legs a trip, the first and then last of trip.

We saw it every leg.
