Leave UAL for FDX?

He's doing a pretty terrible commute right now. SLC is a tough place to commute from on United, as there aren't a lot of mainline flights. There are zero to LAX, and maybe one a day to SFO?
Subject to change. YoNited doesn't like paying for overnight parking in SFO, nowadays.

So hey guys along similar lines I've been tapping this ass:

And you know while its great and all I've been thinking about banging this instead:

The first one is great and the best part about it is that she's loaded and has a really nice truck and a cabin in Tahoe. The second one is is even more rich though!

Gah! Why is life so hard!!!

I'd glady make monthly payments for this but unfortunately it still wouldn't cover it.

I honestly think we're being trolled here. New user, 28, at United, but gee maybe I should leave for FedEx? Just seems bizarre.

Ha. I'm sure he's no troll. Unbelievably. I only say that because I know a thirty year old that just made the same decision to leave UAL for Fedex. I'm glad for the youngsters nowadays, but dang us forty-somethings are just shaking our heads with the opportunities that they have vs "our day."

And yet more anecdotal evidence that the application stack isn't nearly as deep as a lot of people in the industry think it is.

I doubt the application stack is really getting any shallower. Consider that FedEx requires 1,500 hours turbine time, Delta requires 1,000 hours fixed wing turbine time, and most of the majors have similar requirements. With how much the regionals have been hiring in the last few years, there are thousands of pilots meeting the legacy hiring requirements for the first time, or who will be soon.

A pilot position at the majors/ legacies is a great enough opportunity that the competition will always overwhelmingly exceed the number of available jobs. Certainly there is plenty of hiring at the majors right now, but they will never be so short on applicants that they will "have" to hire anyone.

Err. OK. 14,000- 18,000 mandatory retirements between 2014 and 2022 depending who you ask. The math is pretty simple.

UAL is fantastic, don't get me wrong. I'm completely and utterly grateful to be here. But this opportunity popped up and the decision to stay or go could affect me for decades.

I feel your exact position and I know exactly what it feels like to constantly weigh and imagine both options in your head. I too left a very lucrative job, for a place I know that is best for me in the long term.
