Conversation with my wife....
Her: "what happened?"
Me: "uh plane crashed...."
Her: "SmartA$$"
Will wait for the facts, but being a second generation Korean, knowing the Korean mentality, and having close friends that work in Korea, I am surprised this hasn't happened more often. Remember the Korean Air accidents of old? The culture back then is still alive and well today. From what I've read, g/s for 28l was ots. I bet these guys haven't flown a full blown visual approach in months. Remember, CRM in Korea is not the CRM you find here in the states. CRM in Korea is basically captain is god, you as a FO just stfu. Sad and dangerous. But like I said, remember those Korean Air accidents. I think one was caused because the FO just watched the captain fly into the side of a mountain. Something to think about.
CNN reporter...."I saw a guy in the room in a white coat....Turns out it was a doctor..."
White coat, eh? Sure it wasn't a cirrus pilot in a flight suit?
CNN is ON IT today. Nothing is getting by them.
Great perspective Nick.
Had a friend who was on contract for a large Korean airline and he said that "it was only a matter of time before a Korean airline had another hull loss."
I was talking with the FAA public affairs guy for west coast operations for an article I was doing for my old employer and he said the same thing. He referenced a good book that highlighted a Korean Air crash and how they brought in some US folks to train them in CRM because it didnt exist at the time. I cant recall the name of the book.
Quick.....Lets start a drinking game.....
What's the key word....?
