landing a real airliner.

Im going to have to say, like with anything, once you learn how to do something, it's not hard.

Im sure it can be diffucult at times, but they know what to do in each scenario and how to handle it.

Do you think someone like me with only 9 hrs total logged in time would be able to land one in perfect weaather conditions , no wind , unlimited visibility the works :D, I would really like to fly on those simulators that they train pilots in for airlines I hopefully will if I go to the right college , I heard taking off an airliner is hared thn landing it because during landing your already in motion and on takeoff you go ffrom zero to about 130 before rotation.

Of course you could!

AUTOLAND!

Now, my question, why would you want to land one in real life?

Simulators are all fine and dandy, but i sure wouldnt want to try in real life.

Also, you dont need to go to college to fly a simulator. There's some facilities out there where you can rent some time in a simulator.

Hmm. I'm going to say it is harder to land then take off, although a takeoff with a nice crosswind and a slippery runway can require some work. Even with that said, it is pretty hard to hit the sky hard, while it is VERY easy to hit the ground hard/sideways/twice/uneven/too fast/too slow/(did I mention twice?). Anyhow, you get the point.

Now, is it hard to land? Not particularly once you get it down, but every one takes effort. Some are better then others, and others are much worse then some:)

As far as an "airliner" (not sure what you are classifying here) compared to a light GA aircraft? Sure... they are faster, heavier and generally have more people in the back that are likely to let you know about a bad landing, but they land pretty much the same as any other airplane.

Cool.....do you fly "airliners"....or talking out of yo ass? j/k

hahaha. couldnt tell ya. i've got 10.9. but even prior to me getting actual training i had always "hoped" (hope: thought it would be great but only if it worked out as follows) that both pilots get sick or something (like in airplane) and i have to go up there and land teh plane full of 23567 people and im a huge hero, and then (insert badass airline) hires me off the street and trains me and the whole bit cause i saved their arses.

grammar police => run-on sentence :yeahthat:

one thing that would really throw you off is the cockpit's height from the ground. granted alot of bigun's have the hot chick saying "twenty" "ten" "five" "yeahhh thats the spot... ooo yeahhhhh"

maybe not the last one

I would like to give it a whirl on a simulator the real life things a fantasy till I get my license:) . My friend says I'd probably screw up the landing then he'd laugh and I said well If I train with someone for a long time and they go up with me im sure i'd be able to do something with what I have learned so far. I mean god forbid there was an emergency on an airliner and you had a person with 2 flight hours and lots of simulator experience and not a single person knows anything about airplanes thats on board the aircraf, who would have the better shot at landing it , that's what I told my firiend , I think though personally you can't really learn to fly something like that until you get all the neccesary training , not that I eever flew one in my life . The closest to the real thing I ever got ws the ega airline pilot game at jillians and I don't think that really counts lol.

i always loved that game because it had realistic throttles and even had rudder pedals!

pretty worthless though... fly around thru boxes 1000 feet above a city... this is a horrible thing to say, but its almost like 9/11 training :(

Bigey do you know if theres anywhere in Long Island NY that has those real airline simulators I would love to get a taste before I og to college thanks pal.

With no training and zero guidance, you'd probably be dead.

I got training in a cessna 172 and got 8 landings so far, not the first flight I did .I found a cessna has alot of pullback on the yoke during flight but hwhen you flare for landing it eases down nicely with not as much ground effect as a piper. my first two were in pipers

I guess you could do whatever you put your mind to and with alot of h ard work. You'd proably do a better job than me :D

AUTOLAND!

I'll give you $50 if you could take an MD-88 from off-airway at 10,000 and perform a successful autoland without heavy coaching!
