KCM/TSA question for leisure travel

Security in our concourse in TPA is faster than using KCM, in my opinion. The problem with KCM in some stations are the vast amount of crewmembers that don't arrive at the checkpoint prepared to scan, show (ID) and move the hell away from the desk efficiently. Every time you stop, trade some pleasantry, shuffle around in your bag for your passport, open to the page, then scan your KCM tag, store everything and slowly shuffle off can cascade into longer lines and massive delays.

Mad props to @Murdoughnut

Glad to hear our folks are treating crews well. We have a very unique physical structure at TPA with four separate screening areas. While this has resulted in us having the fastest TSA wait times for a large hub airport, it prohibits us from being able to implement KCM as we don't have the TSA resources to man four separate KCM stations - particularly when you take into consideration that each station has relatively few crew passing through it. I'll ask during our next security meeting whether we have a formal policy for ensuring that crew don't have to wait in line, but I would imagine that's probably the SOP.

My employer said no, and insult to injury, removed me from KCM for no real reason.

SSSS on every ticket since going to Turkey. TSA manager (like suit and tie TSA, not blue shirt) told me to have my employer contact Secure Flight and lobby for my removal from "the list". My employer said no, and insult to injury, removed me from KCM for no real reason.

Because obviously if someone is up to something sketchy related to that part of the world, it's gonna be the Jewish guy from Michigan. :P

Back to the original question. Based on your other thread about commuting, it sounds like you are asking about TPA. I commute out of TPA. If you are in uniform you can go through the pre-check lane. The TSA person checking IDs may call you ahead of others in line. When you get to the bag belt, the TSA person most likely will hold the other people up and let you jump to the front. I normally can clear security in 2-3 minutes. As much as I wish we could get KCM, I don't mind going through security in TPA. Even on the worst day, it takes me 5-6 minutes to get through.

Thanks for the intel.

Hey, I have very similar scenario like yours. Got SSSS and KCM deactivated not sure why...

Well KCM was because the chief pilots decided to take me out rather than do what TSA advised to clear my SSSS problem. Then they ignored me for a few months, meanwhile my senator's office got back to me quicker than it took for the chiefs to realize that they were wrong...

Ah, the good ol’ Senator Vs Chief Pilot battle... if I had a nickel...

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that the CPO was digging in when they were wrong.

SHOCKED.

This may sound like a stupid question but I haven't been in the situation yet: if the airport has no KCM checkpoint and I show up in uniform to jumpseat, by my lonesome badged and ready to go, can I cut in line at security like we do when on duty, enter through the employee line partition if there is one, or just wait in line?

I suppose you can, but that's not really what it's intended for, is it? KCM is meant to expedite operating crewmembers getting to their airplanes. IF every crewmember uses it as you're asking, that's not really helping the intended purpose.

Was it that dude that offered me a job?
