Security in our concourse in TPA is faster than using KCM, in my opinion. The problem with KCM in some stations are the vast amount of crewmembers that don't arrive at the checkpoint prepared to scan, show (ID) and move the hell away from the desk efficiently. Every time you stop, trade some pleasantry, shuffle around in your bag for your passport, open to the page, then scan your KCM tag, store everything and slowly shuffle off can cascade into longer lines and massive delays.
Mad props to @Murdoughnut
Glad to hear our folks are treating crews well. We have a very unique physical structure at TPA with four separate screening areas. While this has resulted in us having the fastest TSA wait times for a large hub airport, it prohibits us from being able to implement KCM as we don't have the TSA resources to man four separate KCM stations - particularly when you take into consideration that each station has relatively few crew passing through it. I'll ask during our next security meeting whether we have a formal policy for ensuring that crew don't have to wait in line, but I would imagine that's probably the SOP.
