KCM since the no uniform change

But you DO have civilian clothes on, yes?

It makes the screening process go much smoother if you have little to no clothing on I would imagine.

Ok I went through KCM in LGA in civilian clothes in less than 30 seconds. The pilot in front of me had jeans on and had the same experience. TSA screener could not have been friendlier. She didn't even laugh at my picture when it popped up like everyone else. So that's one round trip without being in uniform with no trouble whatsoever including a departure out of CLT which is the worst KCM line in existence.

No issue in uniform

We need more details.

I'm confused by the random searches. You can see the sheet on the podium and it lists all the times at which they must do a random. I've been selected several times, but it has always been a hand swab. Takes about 30 seconds longer.

Also I went through in plain clothes in MSY, and had no issues.

I just went through lax and the agent said he didn't recognize me without my uniform on. Told him new policy.

I'm willing to bet that the reason we are getting non-uniform KCM is because the TSA told ALPA and the other stakeholders that they intended to add in random screening and negotiated that it would be allowed if they dropped the uniform requirement.

Has anyone been sent to screening who held a TSA Pre-Check boarding pass? Can we go to that line? Or do we have to get the full meal deal?

After the random screening directive by the KCM officer, after standing in line for 15-20 minutes, I was then pulled to Pre-Check to comply with the "random screening."

So, who only knows what exactly they mean by "screening." Guess it could mean Pre-Check or it could mean anything between Pre-Check, naked body scanner, or even secondary screening. But of course, no one really tells us.

Plus, yeah - good question @T-Gates regarding what was sold to make the civilian aspect an option. If only we were aware.

Random screening has always been a part of KCM.

I understand. I guess I should have said increased additional screening. I've only ever seen (and received) the hand swab treatment when using KCM since its inception. Maybe I've just been lucky.

Not trying to be a conspiracy theorist, getting something for nothing just seems like a foreign concept these days....

You've been lucky. In 2 years of commuting one to two times a week with KCM I got "extra" screening 5 or 6 times.

When you are in Tulsa and hear hooves, think horses, not zebras.
