KCM since the no uniform change

Since you brought it up, I finally arrived to the aircraft at D-15. Which, well, I wasn't around to delay boarding but the Ca felt it prudent enough to do just that considering that now he didn't know when, or if, his FO would arrive at the aircraft.

But hey, otherwise - I got it!

He didn't know if or when you'd arrive at the aircraft? Talk about drama.....

Whatever happened to, "just get here as quickly as possible and I'll get the ball rolling?" Just curious @surreal1221 were you proactive in telling the TSA agents that you were working crew, randomly selected, and they were quite possibly going to delay your flight? Not at all accusing you of anything, just curious and trying to get a grasp on what happened. I've never come even remotely close to having a situation like this.

Did it today for KCM. Not only sent to normal security, but then to a selected search. full blown BS. if you know me, it was a conversation comprised of 4 letter words. Security line was 10-15 minutes for ANYBODY and it took me 45 mins and ugliness with a macbook pro in the air (that I caught) and the TSA agent had a fit that I caught it... hence the problem.. "can't touch it" meant "Got $3500??". The cost and the fact that he was on camera as the culprit, he shut the heck up. a complete PITA, as i explained to him that he was at fault with his actions and it would be a problem; KCM for casual clothes seems to be a complete bust from only my POV.

And do you think I went to the front of the line at real security? Nope.

I had this happen in SEA but they escorted me to the front of the pax line in a very friendly manner. Honestly I just assumed that was policy. Apparently not... Were you in uniform? Is there not a separate crew line for non KCM employees?

I'll probably keep wearing my uniform.

Primarily because if you get randomly selected, you have to comply with the regular passenger liquids rule.

Bump dat!

Haven't had many problems with the TSA since KCM, don't plan on volunteering myself for any after the policy change just to wear my hipster outfit.

Say you're in civilian clothes going through KCM with your regular crew bag (going to training perhaps?) and get "randomly" selected. Are they then able to steal all of your oversized toiletries in the regular line? That would tick me off pretty bad...

Company put out a memo about that.

KCM point, random check, in uniform, TSA Pre-check, leave your stuff in your bags, no problem

KCM point, random check, OUT of uniform, regular passenger screening and everything better be "normal passenger" compliant, or you're not going to have a good time.

I figure it's a pretty easily policy to understand and follow. If I don't want the hassle, I can wear civilian clothes and travel with "3 ounce inna bag" rule. But the policy reads like you're absolutely rolling the dice going through the KCM point with civilian clothes.

Personally, I will think of @Seggy when I go through KCM on Saturday morning.

Anyone have a quick reference for what sort of "plain clothes" are permitted? Is it business casual?

I'm hoping to stroll through in motorcycle gear, and then stow it when I get to the crew room. Black/white/red leather jacket, ballistic nylon over-pants, boots... I'll give it a shot and report back, but I'm just wondering if its a total non-starter of an idea.

So Mr. Autothrust will be receiving a free beer in IAH on his next layover? Answer rhymes with "Mess" yes? :)

Yes.

But the only reason why is that while I was forgetful here, I am REALLY sorry for him that he has bicycle handlebars at work.
