Kansas City PEPC

I'm staying at La Quinta from Saturday to Tuesday. It is less than 3 miles from the PEPC site. Total was $224.31. What really sucks is that since I am under 25, I get charged with an additional fee of $25 a day to rent a car!

Flight is $199 with Airtran from ATL
Hotel is $224.31 at La Quinta for 3 nights
Total: $423.31 without rental car

I'm just going to turn it into a mini vacation with visits to the Kansas City Zoo, a Chiefs game, etc.

I'll be at La Quinta too but not 'till Wednesday the 19th-21st. Got both nights free with frequent flier miles. I'll be driving there though, so I'll be out the gas money.

Hey capttiffany, how long does it take after you put a bid on priceline? I've never used it before, and it seems like you got a great deal.

Priceline tells you right away whether or not your bid is accepted. I bid $55 for the 19th and it did not go through... so it probably depends on the day.

Yeah didn't work for me either, but it worked for $60 on the 18th, at the same Hyatt Regency Crown. Thanks for the tip capttiffany and everyone else, working on a car now.

OK, got my plane tix, hotel room, and car........who's up for a drink on the night of the 18th after this mess is all over? Also, for those of you who are looking to rent a car, i was able to rent a midsize car for $36.80, that's w/all the taxes included---it's Advantage rental car, and they're at the airport. They have a deal on 19.99 a day for midsize cars.

Well Priceline was sure easy! Got the same hotel everyone else seems to be mentioning. I'm flying in on November 16 for a November 18 PEPC 9a.m. I tried $45 first, but it took at $55 at the Hyatt Regency Crowne Center which is only 5 minutes away. Got a rental car using my airline employee discount for $14.00 a day plus taxes, and plan on flying in non-rev standby for free. I work for the airlines and have seen how cancelled or delayed flights have ruined some peoples oppourtunities at job interviews, and I always thought to myslef, 'well, why the hell are you leaving the day before?'. So here I go leaving 2 days before so I will not be put in that situation. Seeing a Chiefs game sounds like a good idea!

For all of you staying at the Hyatt, it's a very nice hotel. I think you will really enjoy staying there--and $55/night is an incredible price. It is across the street from Crown Center, which has shopping, restaurants, theatre, etc. Down the street a couple blocks is Union Station. There's not a lot to see at Union Station, but the building itself is worth a quick trip. There is an above ground tunnel connecting Crown Center & Union Station. For those planning on a Chief's game, make sure you have a rental car. The stadium is not located downtown--it's a bit of a drive. You should have no trouble getting tickets since they are not playing so good this year. I know a lot of season ticket holders who can't give their tickets away. Craigslist may have some good deals. If you can get a parking pass, it's gold. Parking at the stadium runs $25-$30. And finally, for those who plan on getting together for a drink, check out the new Power & Light District. There are lots of cool places to hang out there and it's not far from where most of you will be staying. As a Kansas Citian, I'm happy to answer any questions about hotels, driving directions, or anything else that will make your trip to KC easier. Just ask!

Just got the Hyatt Regency booked for my NOV 18th PEPC. Non-reving down on the 17th...which will be nice saving lots of dough on airfare. Working for an airline has its perks thats for sure. I'm just lucky that my airline flies to KC 7 times aday from Milwaukee so I shouldnt have a problem getting there plus looking at the flight loads already ill be one of the only people on the plane! The Hyatt is a beautiful Hotel. I have been to KC on serveral occasions and love it. Hey capttiffany you look like a shopping girl you'll probably like Zona Rosa in KC good shopping and food. Plus good happy hour at tomfoolieries for those who wish to attend.

I just canceled my Avis revservation that I had for $68 for a compact (and that was with an airline coportate rate  ) for the Advantage deal, saved 50% for a larger car!

GREAT DEAL and I'm doing the same. Just booked my room at the Sheraton. Couldn't get the Hyatt at the price, but the Sheraton looks awesome, too...$65/night, checking in on the 17th, out the 19th.

WOO HOO!

I know someone mentioned it already, about the comfy shoes, but... HOw are we to dress? Comfy shoes = Pumas...suit + Pumas = odd first impression? Any suggestions on full head to toe outfits (for men)?

THANKS!
