Jumping back to the orig. post... if you have the time, I would apply to this job. I worked at USA Jet, (DC-9's instead of 727's) and the experience was great! Plus, it put my resume in a 'different stack' when it was time to move on to bigger and better things. Yes, the schedules are challenging to say the least. Mexico in the middle of the night left much to be desired. But, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.
I only drove the -9, but all of the United guys that I've talked to on various commutes talk about their days in the 72 with much fondness.
Plus, it made me a much better pilot because of the experience. I don't know about much Kalitta II/Charters, we only had one guy who was a Falcon driver in my crashpad that worked there... he liked it. Hard schedule. I ran into a ex-Mesa guy I kinda knew from ORD who was on the 72 for Kalitta in Saltillo once... he LOVED driving the 727.
So, take it with a grain of salt... I enjoyed my time as a 'freight dog'... learned a lot... worked hard... and I'm glad I was able to have done my time. And if you do apply and get the gig, I know of a decent crashpad in YIP.
