Who likes them and why?

Old, loud, cool looking. 4>2. Octopussy flies one. Not just another bizjet. Relic of an age when things were, well, more interesting. How can you not like the Jetstar? Baby VC-10!

The JetStar was the first dedicated business jet to enter service...it could cruise up to Mach .80, it has 4 (OMGZ!) jet engines that make a marvelous noise and it has a speed brake under the fuselage...

What's not to love about that?

Discount Tire Company flies/flew one for the longest time out of SDL. Great jet.

There's one hangared at the Anoka County Airport in Minneapolis. I like them because it's bonkers looking. I'm kind of sick of the same tail mounted/wing mounted twins flying around today.

I flew as a passenger in one years ago. After we got to altitude they pulled the two inside engines back to idle. Is that SOP?

If it was good enough for John Wayne, it was good enough for me.

The move Hellfighters has a lot of JetStar footage.

Bob Hope's JetStar departing what's now called Bob Hope airport.

Anyone who ever flew one loved them. That's back when starting an engine was a procedure.

Agassi had one too, with a flaming tennis ball no the tail.

You can't realistically fly them anymore. There is a drop dead AD on a nose gear part that Lockheed understandably wants to no longer support. Thus they are now hangar/ramp queens.

Flew. And OMG was it pristine. The first airplane I ever saw, and actually got chills. Still remember the smell of her, also. I went home that night and... nevermind. Anyways, I actually met the ex-wife of Bruce Halle, and when she told me who she was, I said, "OMG! You guys flew that JetStar!!" At Blue Martini. With no drinks in me (I was bellied up getting my 1st one). True story. She smiled at me and said, "I don't even know you and I like you." We ended up talking about that airplane for about 45 minutes. She did all of the interior, the layout, design, etc. I remember her talking extensively about the pillows, and the carpet. :confused2: Said it was her favorite airplane in the fleet, even after they got the Falcon.

There was another one that flew out of SDL many years ago that had an HF antenna that it flew behind it. Recovering it always required a runway closure until they got it wrapped up and secured.

I am a HUGE fan of that airplane. If they were still around, it'd be one of those that I'd figure out a way to get into.
