With the votes in the weekend was picked as November 14, 15, 16th.


By visiting any of the internet travel sites, (travelocity, expedia, hotels.com, hotwire.com) you will find some great deals on hotels and airfare.

The map below shows you the location of some of the major casinos in LV, but there are plenty of typical motels as well.

Our choice is the southern end of the strip and we will most likely be at the Mandalay Bay, NY-NY, Luxor or maybe the Rio, as Penn and Teller are perfoming at the Rio.



By Mid October I will have an RSVP/attendance list with contact information for anyone who is attending, it will facilitate hooking up once in Sin City. For privacy issues the attendence list will not be posted here, but feel free to announce for yourself if you will be there.

For you guys who are flying yourselves in, which airport are you flying into? I saw an advertisement for North Las Vegas airport that said they have a free shuttle to the major hotels, and no landing fees. I'm not old enough to rent a car
(but I can rent an airplane, WTF?) so this seems like the best thing for me. My only problem then is how to get out to Nellis on saturday for the airshow...

I rented from Dollar, Alamo, and Budget when I was under 25, there was a slight underage 'fee', but I don't remember it being much.


(course this was a few years ago ..........)

You can fly into LAS, especially if your school covers the gas bill. They waive overnight fees with fuel, give a free shuttle to anywhere on the strip, and they'll even pick you up the next day.

I used to do that right after I got out of college. However, now they pretty much won't rent to anyone under 25 due to insurance concerns.

If you can get to the Strip, you won't have to worry about it. You can walk up and down the Strip and we can just cab it to anywhere we need to go.

Well, now it sounds like flying into McCaron is the way to go. For anyone who has flown into LAS before which FBO did you use, and what was your experience like? what were the ramp fees and gas prices like? thanks for the help

As always, the devil is in the details; the McCarran FBOs will waive ONE night's overnight fees with a minimum 20 gallon fuel purchase so if you're planning on staying more than one night, be prepared for the $50/night parking fee. North Vegas (VGT) is much more GA-friendly, with overnight fees of $5/night for single-engine aircraft. VGT isn't AS close to the strip as LAS, but it's only 6 miles or so away, and there is a free shuttle to the hotels.

Is there anyone flying / driving up from PHX who is willing to give a poor college student a ride? I'll be happy to pitch in as much as I can on gas / food / etc. Since it's only Vegas, I'd really like to make it up there. Might have to dust off the ol' thumb to get there, but I'll sure try. Sign me up Eagle!

I would love to go...now to find a way to scrape together the pesos to get there. Anyone from OH driving/flying out there? I would help with fuel cost.

I don't think I can go. Boss isn't being too sparing with my days off lately, because now that I am currently the only full time CFI he has, I have been flying my ass off. I will run it past him, but I'm pretty sure I know what he's going to say (something along the lines of: "Are you *#$@'n nuts?!" probably). Oh well...

I'll see if I can make it the whole time. I might only be able to be there for a night or two, but I'll make a stop for sure. I haven't been to Vegas yet... really wanting to go!

I recommend the San Remo ... its "old Vegas", cheap (meaning its not the fanciest), within walking distance of most places, and has a view of the airport.


If you want to go even dumpier, go to Barbary Coast.

I was just flipping through posts and so this might have already been mentioned but if you want hotels you better get some soon, because they are expecting about 500,000 for the airshow that weekend. Just a thought.

I live in Las Vegas. I would stay away from the Remo... Nasty place

Go to www.lasvegas.com for some good hotel rates.

Make sure to leave a lot of money behind so my taxes will stay low!!!

I've got three of my students so far that want to come down with me. That makes four of us, so I think we're gonna bring down the Turbo Seneca. It seats six, anyone else wanna be picked up along the I-15?

Only problem is I wanna go to the Nellis show too, BUT we can only come for one day.
