Because of the incredible retirement rate for the next 20 years, furloughs of any significant number and duration similar to what was seen after 9/11 would be very unlikely.
Come back when you've got more than "light twin" time.I still think it's funny that I've got 1000+ hours of heavy jet time, however many ocean crossings, plenty of international experience, etc., but RJ CAs are more qualified than I am to go fly my equipment at a Legacy due to my lack of TPIC.
HR makes these minimums, not pilots...
Im assuming everyone is applying anyways whether they feel they have the competitive times or not, right? Just because a check-airmen at your company cant get a call doesn't mean that you shouldn't try.
I find it ironic that we are having this discussion on the website of a man who has next to 0 tpic and has done quite well for himself in the aviation world.

Not saying it was right or wrong, I applied, they hired me, it is what it is.
You'll be amused to know that for every training course we go through that requires a PIC type, they always ask "Does anyone need their ATP?" As we have a lot of guys, usually from the military, that don't have ATPs
If they like you and you meet the mins, you've got a job. If they don't like you, all of the numbers in the world don't matter.
There are people who think "who you know" and "if they like you" shouldn't be a factor. Those people need to sit up and look around. That's how the world works. Everywhere.
I think the "who you know" part is important because it helps filter out the dingleberries.
