JC Cyclists.

It has been a long winter here; I am still stuck pounding indoors with sufferfest videos. I can't wait for the roads to be back in riding shape, but I think it will be a few more weeks at least.

It's been a rough winter, even here in NC. Lots of time on the trainer. I also ran a lot this winter, getting ready to wind that down.

Just wondering if anyone else here has the revo bike lights. I got them for for commuter and must say it am much more visible while riding at night.

Been a while. Glad you all have been posting! I have been coaching a few of the local high school teams. We built a pump track and got the girls out on it from one of the schools. Some of the girls have never seen a pump track before!

Waiting for the rest of the snow to melt in Chicago and also for my bike to be done with an overhaul at the shop!

I have the Planet Bike Superflash, it's bright enough for me but I'm not a commuter.

Sweet pump track! I have been out on the trails as much as possible this winter, got a new 29er hardtail last fall and went with a Stan's tubeless setup. We have lots of clay in the soil here so drainage is very poor, that means with the rain and snow we've had this winter the trails have been closed quite a bit. I am a terrible MTBer but always have a blast.

Good to hear others are getting out, been slow on the riding side with good snow in the high country still. Been skinning a bit on the splitboard so at least I'm cross training a bit.

Finally got a few rides this week, looking forward to some consistency again soon!

Been out on this too a decent amount, although not as much as I'd hoped due to good pow in the high country. Rough life ;)

I got a set for Christmas and am excited to take them out. How's the forward visibility?

From the revo lights alone, not enough to keep you out of the pot holes on a dark street. I use them more as "anti collision" lights and have other lights for forward visibility.

I have no doubt that getting out on the fat bike this winter has been a good time, but, let me rant about fat bikes for a minute.

Fat bikes are all the rage in Michigan. Fat biking in the winter, fat biking in the summer, and fat biking on the beach. I'm a little bit surprised that I don't see people commuting on fat bikes with the justification that Baghdad roads are in better shape than Michigan roads, and they need the extra cushion for all the potholes (though I have seen a guy commuting on a Pivot Mach 5 with mud fenders).

I, on the other hand, simply don't get it. In the winter, I ski, so I don't have any interest in getting out on a bike in the winter. And in the summer? I want to stay as far away from sand as possible (which is nearly impossible in Michigan). The guys at my local bike shop were talking about how they think the fat bike is going to take over downhill racing because "Who needs suspension when you have wheels that big!?"

I just don't get it.

Haters gonna hate ;)

It's just another bike that is super fun to ride and gets me out to different trails & conditions than normal, I aintz preaching the fat gospel just riding. So yeah, nothing to 'get' really. Just go ride!

How'd you like the split board this winter?

Super fun, definitely allows us access to more freshies and a solid workout for sure. We've mainly hit inbounds (hike in/out only) so far but plan to get beacons/probes and more training next year. With our limited BC excursions we know just enough to be dangerous right now, so time to step up the knowledge and safety.

Truthfully, I have not ridden in a number of years (like 13 or 14 years; time is a bitch). I taught boarding for 8 winters and spend 90% of my time on an alpine setup, but those days are long gone. I still have a couple of nice boards in a bag somewhere, but I doubt I will use them again. Still, I have an affinity for that shape. :)
